Jon Berger joined ESPN in August 2009 as a college football analyst on the ESPNU studio show Big 12 This Week. In 2012, Berger will be appearing on SportsCenter, will be the lead analyst for ESPN Goal Line and will serve as both a studio and game analyst across ESPN platforms. In addition, Berger will continue as a contributor, analyst and co-host for ESPN 103.3 (Dallas). Previously, Berger was on College Football Overdrive on ESPNEWS and a game analyst covering the Big Ten, Mid-American and Western Athletic Conferences.
Berger started his broadcasting career at Fox Sports Net, and from 2003-05 he was a studio analyst covering the Big 12 Conference. He also served as a game analyst from 2006-08 for the Mtn. Network covering the Mountain West Conference.
Berger graduated from The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business in 1992, having previously completed the University College General Studies Program with summa cum laude honors. As a Buckeye, he was a letterman on the football team and three-time University Scholar-Athlete.
Berger is a nephew of Jay Berwanger, who was awarded the first Heisman Trophy in 1935 for his outstanding performance at the University of Chicago and was the top selection in the first NFL draft in 1936.
Berger is a Centerville (Ohio) High School alumnus where his 1986 team finished the season ranked 13th in the country by USA Today. CHS has produced 63 Division I Football Players and notable alumni include Kirk Herbstreit, AJ Hawk, Andy Harmon, and Mike Nugent.
Berger, who was born in Lexington, Ky., and raised in Austin, Texas, now resides in Dallas.
