So what are the replay boards like at the Shoe? How many, how big, and where located?

Everyody happy with the current plan, or do y'all have any suggestions or improvement ideas?

The yellow section is where video appears. It was one of the larger ones when it was installed about a decade ago. No real need to upgrade it at this point... I'd rather have them put that money towards an eventual second deck in the south island stands (where the scoreboard appears). I'd think they could just move it on top of that creation.

If you're really interested in the history, here's something:

The video board at the Shoe is pretty much just like you would see at any professional or major college stadium. They show replays and player stats, and have video announcements and animated clips during TV timeouts. Really, the times I've been to games, I rarely looked at it. There's plenty going on around the stadium that I probably wouldn't care if they just had the old scoreboard. The best thing about it, IMO, is the giant athletic dept. logo on top, because it's the first part you see when driving up I-70 North.

You mean SR-315 North.

Has there been any real talk about adding a 2nd deck in the south endzone? That would really up the sounds level. In addition to more seating, it might prevent some sound from escaping out of the "open" end of the Shoe.

I haven't heard or read anything, but I guess you never know. I am not sure it would be a good move to add more seating in the south stands though. Any seats you would add would be of low desirability. If increasing the sound level is a desired outcome, I think there are some other things they could do before they added a few low quality seats.

I certainly don't think they'd have any problems filling those seats, the issue is that I'm not a 2nd deck is practical with the current design for the south stands. ala you might have to replace the entire south stands in order to make it work..something I don't see happening in the near future

I don't see it happening anytime soon either, just thinking outside the box.

Also, from a seating standpoint, I don't think you'd lose many seats. I think you'd lose about half of the 30b's, but you'd be adding a lot more with the upper deck.

I obviously know nothing about the structural supports and whether that would require a complete rebuild. Assuming it would not, here's an idea of how it could look.

When they first added it after the renovations they video/highlights and Espin 24 hours a day to test it out. They left the stadium open during the time and people would go in and sit on the grass and watch it like a drive in movie theatre. I thought it was the most bada$$ scoreboard I've ever seen.

The next update I'd like to see is a collection of bright LED displays with a narrow but wide form factor. You obviously can't show replays on them, but they're great for logo animations, celebratory displays and updates for scores of other games. They would be at various spots around the lower edge of C-deck.

I've seen this in other stadiums, but around the top. The effect is dramatic when done right. You wouldn't want to copy what the others do, but if you did the displays right; it would really add to the atmosphere.

Original cost of the displays and the install would be about $125,000 or so. ...minimal recurring costs to update software and maintain the displays.
