Don’t look now, but Ohio State might be turning into O-Line U!

Today, Jamarco Jones became the second Ohio State offensive lineman selected in the 2018 NFL Draft, as he was taken by the Seattle Seahawks with the No. 168 pick in the fifth round. He joins 2018 first-rounder Billy Price and previous draftees Reid Fragel, Corey Linsley, Jack Mewhort, Jeff Heuerman, Nick Vannett, Taylor Decker, and Pat Elflein as offensive lineman selected during the Urban Meyer-era at Ohio State.

Hailing from Chicago, the left tackle has twice been selected to both the media and coaches’ All-Big Ten teams, including a first-team honor in 2017. Jones played in 50 games and started 27 at left tackle during his final two seasons in Columbus. During the two years that he started for the Buckeyes, the team led the B1G in rushing both years, and finished in the top-20 during all four of his seasons in scarlet and gray.

An exceptional pass blocker, Jones has the ability to slide in protection and to withstand a bullrush. He also has the athleticism to help on big runs and broken plays with the ability to get to the second-level of a defense.

However, after weighing in at 6’4, 299 pounds at the NFL Combine, he might need to add some size as a pro left tackle, and he has a decent amount technique that he can improve on once he gets into an NFL training camp.

Congrats to Jamarco for continuing the tradition of OSU o-linemen representing in the league.
