Dwyer scored again midway through the second quarter when sophomore quarterback Jacoby Brissett connected with sophomore tight end Nick O'Leary on a 58-yard touchdown pass.

Dwyer coach Jack Daniels praised Brissett and Christian, saying "Jacoby looked phenomenal and Gerald has had a great spring."

Brissett has a rare opportunity to lead Dwyer to state titles in two different sports. If he does that, he could go down as one of the most successful athletes in the school’s storied history.

Inside the Huddle: Dwyer
by Charles Fishbein | December 9th, 2009 @ 12:43 pm

Our new feature to this site is adding hi-lights from teams across the Florida. Dwyer is the team we will focus on today as they get ready for their state semi-final matchup against Armwood. The Hawks have been a thorn in the side of many teams from South Florida. Dwyer will try and finally break through and make it to Orlando. Here is a breakdown of their top players.

Jacoby Brissett has been the starter since his freshman season. He is a big kid with a powerful arm. Brissett has the physical talent to be amongst the best quarterbacks in Florida next year. He already has received interest from BCS schools. (Video Link)

Dwyer injury notes: QB Jacoby Brissett, DE Curt Maggitt
by Jason Lieser

Two of Dwyer's biggest stars will play through injuries in Saturday's Class 4A state championship game against Niceville at the Florida Citrus Bowl.

Quarterback Jacoby Brissett hurt his right foot when a defensive player landed on it during Friday's win over Seffner-Armwood. Brissett spent yesterday's practice on crutches while sophomore Bobby Puyol took first-team reps, but Brissett was able to practice today. He said he will be ready to start Saturday.

Dwyer has talent to make run at a repeat title
Saturday, December 19, 2009
by Jason Lieser

After his team closed out a 42-14 win over Niceville in Saturday's Class 4A championship game at the Florida Citrus Bowl, Dwyer quarterback Jacoby Brissett announced where he wants to spend next December. "Same spot," he said, flashing a grin. "I think we'll be back next year."

Brissett is one of six 2009 starters who will be seniors next season and that group could fill up to nine first-string positions depending on how many play on both sides of the ball.

...
Brissett, who also stars on Dwyer's basketball team, will be the area's top returning quarterback next year. In 15 games this season, he completed 59.5 percent of his passes for 2,212 yards and 25 touchdowns against just seven interceptions.

The Brissett-O'Leary connection resulted in five completions for 106 yards against Niceville (13-1), and the duo will be problematic for defenses next year as well. "He's probably my favorite target," Brissett said of O'Leary.

It's clear that there is a lot of upside where Brissett is concerned. The 6-foot-5, 220-pounder is a two-sport standout (he is a talented basketball player), so it will be interesting to see what happens when he devotes his entire time to football. His coach already is sold, and rightfully so given the events of last season.

"As a quarterback, he's a leader in the huddle, but more importantly, he can make all the throws from his position," Daniels said. "He can throw the deep ball, the deep out, he's got touch on the ball and can make all of those throws. Plus, he's underrated as far as running the football. He had a couple of 80-yard runs this year, he can make people miss and he's strong."

Brissett claims early offers from Miami, Tennessee, Florida State, Rutgers, Marshall, Wisconsin, West Virginia and Boston College. "I just take [recruiting] day by day and I don't really think about it," he said. "I am just going to go where I am comfortable."

Free Rivals - Steward will make decision today

Brissett may wait

West Palm Beach (Fla.) Dwyer four-star QB Jacoby Brissett took an official visit to Miami last weekend, and his mother told CaneSport.com that he would likely have a final decision in place by tonight.

And Brissett's coach, Jack Daniels, told CaneSport that the announcement of that decision may not come on National Signing Day.

"He may do it Friday at the basketball game because it's senior night," Daniels said.

If Brissett does decide to do it Wednesday, the Media Center at Dwyer High will no doubt be packed for the 11 a.m. signing ceremony already scheduled for the rest of the team.

Daniels said Brissett was nearing a final decision as of early Monday. He's choosing among Miami, Florida and Wisconsin.

Similar to Clowney, West Palm Beach (Fla.) Dwyer quarterback Jacoby Brissett didn't make an announcement on Wednesday. The four-star signal-caller is expected to announce on Friday, during senior day festivities for his high school basketball team. His decision is expected to come down to Miami, Florida and Wisconsin.
