J.T. Barrett Suspended For Minnesota Game

We’ve come to dread off-weeks for a good reason. The bugaboo of “college football players with too much time on their hands this week” struck again overnight as J.T. Barrett was cited early Saturday morning for driving OVI (Operating a Vehicle under the Influence) by Columbus police. Per Doug Lesmerises at Cleveland.com;
According to the report, Barrett blew just over the 0.08 legal limit on a breathalyzer test. Eleven Warriors reported that Barrett was released to a teammate who drove him home – Cardale Jones.
He appeared to be just over the blood alcohol limit, and since he is 20 years old he is under the legal drinking age. This was a bad decision by J.T.
However, Coach Meyer made a good decision by suspending J.T. for the Minnesota game next week. Again, Doug Lesmerises brings us Urban’s statement on the situation:
Ohio State University student-athlete J.T. Barrett was cited by Columbus police Saturday morning at a campus area check point with a misdemeanor offense of OVI. Barrett has been suspended by head coach Urban Meyer from playing in Ohio State’s game against Minnesota on Nov. 7.
So, the Ohio State quarterbacking situation is again unsettled for the present time. It’s a bit early with this series of events, and as it unfolds we’ll have additional commentary regarding it.
