Buckeye Nation is still reeling from the devastating loss to the Spartans of the road kill section of America also called *ichigan. There was so much hope in Buckeye Nation leading up to this game. The JT fiasco was “seemingly” behind us and Zeke had pounded out 100 yards plus in 15 games … looking to go to 16.

But was there really hope? Or has it all been blind loyalty?

All season long the Defense outshined the offense – directly being the reason for at least 2 wins, Northern Illinois and Indiana. The 2014 explosiveness of the Buckeyes offense had totally imploded in 2015.

Who is to blame?

Unfortunately in the big cash world of College Football today and the blood thirsty alumni associations someone will take the fall.

It’s simply the way it is.

Why has this offense been so ineffective with the exception of the VA Tech game and a glimmer or two in lesser opponents such as Hawaii and Illinois? The weight of productivity for this once powerful group of warriors fell onto, primarily, two players – Ezekiel Elliott and Michael Thomas.

Last year’s brain child was Tom Herman. Urban Meyer hired him in 2012 as the Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks Coach. He’d leave following last year’s magical run for the inaugural CFP’s. As rabid Buckeyes fans we want to label him a traitor. But he’s doing what is the goal of all coaches – to move on and become the top dog in a program that will be his. Urban understands this.

With his departure in came Ed Warinner and Tim Beck. Realistically speaking there seems to be no trust in these two. Regardless of the answer that Urban may provide – evidence of co-coordinating the offense speaks volumes. Part of that notch in volume is Tim Beck specifically was hired to run the scheme as developed by Coach Meyer – “with freedom to tweak creatively.”

Well the tweaking part has occurred … but it lacks creativity.

The failure of this once dominant offense that has 9, if not 10 potential NFL draftees within its ranks is confusing. The fact they were picked unanimously to be the #1 team in the Preseason by “All” the experts details the talent available to them. And the world of College Football experts thought they were loaded … which they are!

The complete breakdown of this offense was the coaching inabilities to use the players available to them and their strengths. Cardale Jones is the first one that fits this category. He was handed the keys to an offense that was designed for the talents of JT. No other plays were implemented for him and those shining moments that he gave Buckeye Nation last year at the direction of Tom Herman … all vanished.

A change I believe is in the making. It will not be completed until the season is over. Urban Meyer is safe and of course he should be. He is one of the most dominant and successful Head Coaches in the game today and time may prove in history. But the Offensive side will experience a mix-up.

There is a discussion I have read that suggests Ed Warinner is safe too. He may be demoted from the co-coordinator position but continuity is favored in recruitment of what is always a 5 star area for the Buckeyes – the offensive line. Arguably that’s none sense. Ed Warinner has only been with the Buckeyes since 2012. There has been an extensive vault of offensive line talent throughout Buckeye History. First and foremost the big men come to The Ohio State University because of that extensive vault and the notice received by NFL Scouts. Secondly they will come because of Urban Meyer. Warinner can be replaced.

Beck is a failed experiment. End of conversation.

Who could solicit a surge of recruitment possibilities? Who could be a total confidant of Coach Meyer? Who, as a first time coach (OC/QB), could bring an intensity that would be welcomed and refreshing?

I am speaking of Tim Tebow.

Tim Tebow, if his interests in pursuing an NFL career have vanished, as there appears to be 32 teams in that spectrum prepared to move away from any Tebow experiment, would be ideal. He is young. He knows the Urban Meyer plan. He knows how to execute it. As a hungry player his creativity is reflective of his recent past. He has a bankable name and is liked. With his dabbling in the NFL ways I believe he would comprehend the utilization of players’ strengths to the extent that it would not be white-boarded – but real.

I might simply be blowing steam here. I want to say I have moved on from the loss against the Spartans but I have not. Repeating as National Champions for the Buckeyes is “extremely” unlikely – opening the door to a new Champion.

But we do have next year.

And wouldn’t it be grand to see Tebow Time in Columbus?
