I think he's just lost too much of his supporting cast to continually be great. Losing both awesome guards and your top receiver at once is tough to overcome. Ahman Green's not doing a thing this season, so Brett knows it's all on him. With their terrible defense he knows he has to put up 30ish points to have a chance and I think that's forcing some bad passes out of him.

Favre's probably my favorite NFL player. It is sad to see him going out like this. Too good of a player/guy for it to end this way.

The Packers front office sent a message when they drafted Aaron Rodgers in the 1st round and let a couple of their starting O-lineman go. They are rebuilding and planning for the future. Favre is only playing to win another championship. That won't be happening in Green Bay any time soon and I'd be surprised if he didn't retire after this year.

Losing Javon Walker to a season ending knee injury didn't help matters.

he's close to hanging it up.... it's gonna be a tough year but they started off slow last year and finished the season strong. Losing Walker doesn't help but the biggest thing is the fact that they lost two very good offensive lineman in the offseason and they haven't found replacements that can protect him. He has to understand that he can't make the same plays he used to but with Walker out someone needs to step up and Driver hasn't. Favre is going to be forced to make plays which means more INT's and probably more lost games. Green needs to hold onto the fucking ball and he hasn't done that either. Their division is down this year so anything is possible.

EDIT: man I type slow

The Packers are not happy with Rodgers progress so far and there are rumblings that drafting him was huge mistake.

It's been a great run for the Packers, but Favre IS and has been the Green Bay Packers since 1991. Once he goes they will tumble back to the also ran status that they had between him and Lombardi.

He has been done for about 2-3 years now, but the morons in the media keep apologizing for him because they like him. The best was the egg he laid in the playoffs against Minnesota last year - he threw a ball about 5 yards passed the line of scrimmage, and Cris C and that assface Joe Buck just started laughing even though it was a costly penalty. Hopefully the Pack finish about 4-12 and his passer rating is 65.

there has to be a reason he fell all the way to 26 where the Packers were able to get him. He hasn't shown anything yet in practice and showed nothing in preseason... not what you expect from a first rounder.

I just remember during the combine, some teams talked of him being the first pick. I think a lot of the reason he fell so far is b/c the middle teams did not need a QB.

Think back about all the guys that were taken in the the top-10 and didn't pan out... you should have even more reserved expectations for a prolific college QB who nobody wanted. As an average fan, I thought he'd go higher, but many sources are reporting that he was taken too early.
