I give up. This board is too hard to understand.
Indians trade Gerut to Cubs for Dubois

Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - The Cleveland Indians traded outfielder Jody Gerut to the Chicago Cubs for outfielder Jason Dubois on Monday night.

The Indians had been looking for a righthanded power hitter, and Dubois hit 31 home runs at Triple-A Iowa last season. He hit .239 with seven homers with Chicago this year before being sent back to the minors.

Gerut, who was on the disabled list the first six weeks of the season while recovering from knee surgery, was hitting .275 with the Indians this year. He has 34 home runs in 305 career games.

Well- This means they've pretty much settled on keeping Crisp... (And Obviously Sizemore)... so you need a Power hitting RF... which Jody isn't... so... Seems like an Audition... if he doesn't work out they move on to Snyder and Gutierrez... (Probably not in that order)

Cubs just traded Jody to Pukesburgh for another former Indian Matt Lawton.

I saw that too... hope Jody didn't get a place in Chicago.

Pirates, Cubs swap outfielders Lawton, Gerut

CHICAGO (AP) - The Chicago Cubs acquired outfielder Matt Lawton from the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday in exchange for outfielder Jody Gerut.

The Cubs just got Gerut from the Cleveland Indians on July 18 in a trade for Jason Dubois. Gerut appeared in 11 games for Chicago, going 1-for-14, and started Sunday's game against Arizona in left field, going 0-for-2 with a strikeout. He appeared in 44 games with the Indians, batting .275.

Lawton was 0-for-4 Sunday, including a game-ending strikeout as the Pirates lost in Atlanta. He was batting .273 with 10 homers and 44 RBIs for the Pirates and has also played for Twins (1995-01), the Mets (2001) and the Indians (2002-04).

Lawton is a career .269 hitter with 135 homers.

It is the Cubs' second major trade with the Pirates in two years. They acquired Aramis Ramirez and Kenny Lofton from Pittsburgh in July, 2003, and they helped Chicago advance to the National League Championship Series.

Chicago began play Sunday with a 53-51 record, 12 1/2 games behind St. Louis in the NL Central but still in the running for the NL wild card.
