In Ground Pools - Help!!!

I have an in ground pool at the house I just bought. First pool ever and it is already a pain in the ass. I had a company come and open it for me and it was fine for about a week and a half, then I cleaned it with the pool vaccum.

I lost prime in my pump, which I was eventually able to restore. Now my water just sucks. It used to be nice and clear and now it is a beautiful blue color. I can only see about a foot and a half or so down.

I have tested it with the strips and the alkalinty is high, the ph is normal and the chlorine is a ok but low. I just put in about 2 lbs of shock with a clarifier hoping that will clean it up.

Any home owners with pools out there with any advice?? Help?????

Growing up my parents had an in ground pool, so I am somewhat familiar with it. I would see what the shock does, if you have no success I would up the clorine content. Usually what clouds a pool is a high/low PH count though......I'm not sure honestly. It's a tricky formula to get your pool where it needs to be, they can be baffling at times.

is the pump/filter working properly......you have to clean the filters on both ends daily....

Thanks, that is the first place that has given me advice on how to lower the TA......

I have been keeping the filter baskets clean in the pool and the one in the pump. Looks like I may have to open the big triclops filter to check it.

From past experience, no matter what you do, NEVER go to the local "pool store" and ask their opinion. They will give you a 2 month "remedy process" that will have you chasing your ass around a green pool all summer. I would shock the sh*t out of it once and let it sit a few days, then see where you are.
