In their final preview episode, Jordan and Dante break down Ohio State and Oregon + a 2025 NFL Draft Big Board.
Welcome to a new episode of Land-Grant Podcast Network’s I-80 Football Show. On this show, we travel down I-80 to talk all things Big Ten Football. After every week of action, we will catch you up on all the conference’s games and look ahead at the matchups, storylines, and players you should be paying attention to for the next week.
My name is Jordan Williams, and I am joined by my co-host Dante Morgan.
As camp wraps up and teams start to transition into game week prep, multiple coaches have announced their starting quarterbacks for the 2024 season. Ohio State is going with Will Howard, five-star Freshman Dylan Raiola won the Nebraska job, while transfer quarterback Tyler Van Dyke and backup quarterback Miller Moss won the Wisconsin and USC jobs, respectively.
NFL Draft analyst Dane Brugler dropped his top 50 big board for the 2024 NFL Draft, which features 13 players from the Big Ten, with Michigan corner Will Johnson coming in at No. 1. In this episode, Jordan and Dante break down Ohio State’s wealth of talent, including at least eight or nine players who with a great season could be in consideration for first-round picks in 2025.
Led by JT Tuimoloau, Jack Sawyer, Denzel Burke and Caleb Downs, Ohio State should have the best defense in the country. They also have two top-five running backs, an experienced quarterback, and a young but star-studded wide receiver room. There are almost no questions on this roster. At this point, the only thing that can stop Ohio State from winning a national championship is another generational Georgia team or themselves.
If Ohio State has the best roster in the country, Oregon isn’t far behind, led by what most pundits consider the best quarterback in the country Dillion Gabriel. Under offensive coordinator Will Stein, Oregon should once again have one of the best offenses in the country with arguably the best offensive line unit in the country and a star wide receive duo in Tez Johnson and Evan Stewart.
The Ducks’ biggest questions come on defense, but they are filled with former four and five-star talent, including stud transfer corner Jabbar Muhammad. Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks will get to wear a lot of crazy uniform combinations, as they should be playing 15-16 games this year including a deep run in the College Football Playoff.
