The boys also get into the first two days of NFL free agency!.
Welcome to a new episode of Land-Grant Podcast Network’s I-80 Football Show. On this show, we travel down I-80 to talk all things Big Ten Football. This is the only Big Ten Podcast that’ll cover all 18 teams.
Between the NFL and College, Football news never stops. It may only be March but NFL free agency is already upon us! In this episode, Dante and Jordan get into the moves their teams made, including the Colts finally spending money on the opening day of free agency with the Cam Bynum and Charvarious Ward signings. Dante’s favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, have been quiet in free agency but they pulled a massive trade acquiring DK Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks. Their biggest question remains, who will be the starting quarterback for the 2025 season and the future? In other free agency news, Justin Fields gets a two-year $40 million contract with the New York Jets and Chase Young gets paid to stay with the New Orleans Saints. Once again free agency has been good to former Buckeyes.
The Athletic’s Stewart Mandel and Bruce Feldman dropped their annual top 25 college football coaches rankings so we take a look at where they ranked coaches in the Big Ten. After winning a national championship, Ohio State Head Coach Ryan Day was ranked second in both rankings, but that’s about the only thing we agreed with.
For some reason, Dan Lanning was ranked over James Franklin, despite only coaching for three years and having less success. Other coaches making the rankings include Curt Cignetti, Kirk Ferentz, Lincoln Riley, Jonathan Smith, and Bret Bielema. We get into a debate over whether Lincoln Riley should be included in the top 25 and which coaches should’ve made the list like Minnesota’s PJ Fleck.
In their weekly pitstop, Jordan talks about NCAA ‘25 and finally making a franchise with his Alma Mater, Kent State Golden Flashes. After playing with Kent in the Road to Glory game mode, the thought of playing with Kent and a swiss cheese offensive line wasn’t ideal, but turns out the offensive line is only awful in Road to Glory, which needs to be fixed in “NCAA ‘26.”
