The Buckeyes and the Golden Gophers will meet at 8 p.m. ET on ABC (channel 1006 Time Warner Columbus/Delaware).
Two week's ago, this week's game didn't seem all that interesting. Today, thanks to Jerry Kill's sudden retirement and J.T. Barrett's suspension, you may be hearing a bit more chatter than had been expected. It's still Ohio State football, though, and we don't want you to miss a second of it. Let's get the details about how you can enjoy today's game.
What time and where is the game today?
The No. 3 Buckeyes will be playing in the Horseshoe tonight in their fourth night game of the season.
Wait wait wait. No. 3? I thought we were No. 1!
In case you missed it, the College Football Playoff Selection Committee released their first set of rankings this past Tuesday, and while Ohio State remains at the top of the AP and Coaches' Polls, the Committee wasn't quite as impressed with us as we may have hoped. The top spot was given to Clemson, with LSU at No. 2 and Alabama rounding out the first top-4 of the season.
Okay, back to the game. What channel's it on?
The Buckeyes will be back on ABC tonight in the prime time slot. You can also find it online via WatchESPN. Our ABC crew for the game will be Brad Nessler, Todd Blackledge, and Holly Rowe, and Paul Keels and Co. will be there for you on 97.1 FM The Fan or your local Ohio State radio network affiliate.
So how does Minnesota look this year?
Not great. The Golden Gophers are 4-4, and they haven't managed a win yet against anyone noteworthy. (Sorry, Purdue.) As I mentioned earlier, the season got even more complicated for Minnesota when head coach Jerry Kill announced his sudden and immediate retirement due to health concerns. In their first game last week under interim coach Tracy Claeys, they lost to Michigan.
Where's GameDay at today?
You can find Rece and the gang in Tuscaloosa, AL, where the new CFP rankings have given us an unofficial quarterfinals game, with No. 4 Alabama hosting No. 2 LSU. While Bama does already have one loss (to Ole Miss back in September), the Tigers are undefeated. While a loss for LSU probably doesn't guarantee that they won't get to dance come New Year's Eve, it'd be a bit of a miracle for a two-loss Alabama to make it in. That game will be on at 8 p.m. on CBS, so you can flip to it when we're on a commercial.
How's the rest of the Big Ten looking? Is Iowa still undefeated?
Yes, folks. We're in week 10, and Iowa is still undefeated.
In the new CFP rankings, five B1G teams made the cut: No. 3 Ohio State, No. 7 Michigan State, No. 9 Iowa, No. 17 Michigan, and No. 21 Northwestern. With Ohio State set to face two, maybe three of those teams at the end of the season, this could get ugly.
At noon, you can watch Penn State at No. 21 Northwestern or Illinois at Purdue, if you're just a glutton for punishment.
At 3:30 p.m., we've got No. 9 Iowa at Indiana, Wisconsin at Maryland, and Rutgers at No. 17 Michigan.
At 7 p.m., it's No. 7 Michigan State at Rutgers, and then the Buckeyes round the night out at 8 p.m.
