How long did you keep your first car

No I'm not a new version of donny....I wanna know how long everybody kept their first new car before trading it in for your next new car.

I inherited a 1990 Geo Metro from my mom in 1996, and traded it in for a new S-10 in the summer of 2000.

I had a new Ford Ranger in 1995 and traded it in for a new 1997 Ranger... so I guess it would be two years. :)

well, had my "first" truck for about a year but it was anything but new. have had my second/first new truck for about 10 yrs now. ive bought cars since then, but the truck is hard to get rid of.

I had my first new car for four years and then sold it when I bought my Mom's car from her. She could not drive anymore due to an illness and it was bigger and more powerful than I my little car I bought while in grad school.

My wife and I try and go about eight to ten years on cars. Her first new car went about eight years before we had to get something bigger for the family. I hope to go another two and get an even ten years out of the car I have now.

Had the first one for about 3 years, sold it becuase I didnt want it down on campus.

I drove mine for 8 years before it died. Still haven't bought a new one.....

I'm still driving my first new car. I have a history of running cars into the ground so it will be interesting.

The first car I bought on my own (not a hand-me-down from parents, etc...) was in 1995- it was a 1993 Nissan Altima. I kept it for 5 years and bought a 2000 Maxima, which I still have.

bought a jeep wrangler in 98 and drove it till 02 when I got a cherokee

I've never had a vehicle longer than 18 months. I've totalled 6 cars (and was never once at fault), had a tree fall on another, and had another stolen, all in the years when I was 16-22. I have never purchased a car "new", as it is A. a bad investment, and B. too damn expensive when you have the taste I have. Currently drive a 2001 GMC Yukon, and have had that for about a year or so. I'll probably hang onto this one for a while, though.
