Juice, Full of Juice!!
Has anyone ever lived or stayed in Houston, Texas for an extended period of time? I might be working out there for the next several months and wanted to get some opinions of the city, etc.

From my very limited research... Hot/Humid in the summer... Lots of Bugs, and Terrible traffic.

One of the worst cities to be stuck in.

I pity you.

Just a thought... hornfans.com might be a good place to look.

Tripadvisor has a wealth of info on cities, more geared for trips. Make sure to check the forums, where the bulk of the insight lies.

I used to travel frequently to Houston and summer there is one of the worst climates I've experienced anywhere in the U.S. The rest of the year isn't much better. There's no interesting terrain, billboards seem to line every street and highway, traffic sucks, very little quality culture and nightlife, and not a lot of good places to eat (unless you like all the Pappas restaurants).

That's a pretty good summary of the downside. The upside is there are all kinds of job opportunities, affordable housing and year round golfing. Lot's of great places to eat, MLB, NBA and NFL. (Well sort of NFL)

I find the climate easier to deal with than Columbus. Heat doesn't cause nearly the inconvience that snow/ice does. Plenty of pesticides out there to take bugs out of the equation too.

I'm from Columbus and lived there for 20 years. There's no place like home but... After 8 years in Houston, personally, there is no way I could afford my current life style in Columbus. I'll deal with a little heat and heavy traffic for that.

Let me know if you have any questions about best places to live, etc.
