Welcome to your tri-weekly look at all things Ohio State recruiting. Let’s get started!
5-Star WR Has Great Visit:
The big visitor for the Indiana game was 5-star wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones out of Cass Tech in Michigan. The Buckeye offense sure didn’t do themselves any favors in showing off the passing game for a possible future target, only completing nine passes on the day. Peoples-Jones got the red carpet rolled out for him for his visit including talking to AD Gene Smith and President Drake among other people.
Although it is likely that Peoples-Jones ends up at Michigan when all is said and done, per Jeremy Birmingham at Landof10.com, he isn’t tipping his hand on where his recruitment stands. Birm spoke to a source within Ohio State who said it was hard to get a read on where things stand with him at this time, but a source close to Peoples-Jones said that the Buckeyes were at least in the Top 3 at one point in time.
The Buckeyes do have a small contingent of Cass Tech players on their roster including starting running back Mike Weber who spoke to Cleveland.com after the game about getting Donovan to come to Ohio State.
The Buckeyes did everything they could on Saturday to show what kind of program Ohio State is, and I am sure Urban Meyer and Zach Smith met with him to discuss how he could be a difference maker for this recruiting class along with Trevon Grimes and Tyjon Lindsey. Will it be enough to sway Peoples-Jones from the state up north? We can only wait and see what happens from here on out.

Cleveland Heights Duo Visit:
Tyreke Smith and Jaylen Harris were both on campus this weekend as well on unofficial visits to see the Buckeyes take on the Hoosiers. Smith, a 4-star defensive end, spoke to 11W about his visit.
“It was great,” Smith said. “I was very impressed with the defense.”
Smith currently holds 13 offers from the likes of Penn State, Michigan State and Maryland. He is looking to get back on campus sometime this fall and he said he will certainly be in attendance for the Michigan game if not before that.
Jaylen Harris is a 4-star wide receiver, who many have considered a Buckeye lean over the past few months. The main question that has come up is, is there enough room for Harris in this class? If you read last Friday’s HatS, then you know he spoke to Cleveland.com and said that they would find a way to get him in if indeed he wanted in. While I don’t think that Peoples-Jones ends up a Buckeye, I think if Jaylen Harris wants in that he would be a mighty fine addition for the 3rd wide receiver in the class of 2017.
