Should the vBookie take this one over? :tongue2:
OK on the vBookie. But what about spitballing some of the candidates?

I'll get the ball rolling with everyone's favorite Inside Info coach

Dennis Franchione

(And, no the elevator was definitely not me, well not this time anyway).

EDIT - I see you have a list of preferred candidates up now.

I put up seven coaches that are leading their respective programs to new lows, or have been in hot water for some time. Charlie is not an option, because at his price, ND is stuck with him, IMHO. I don't think Louisville will pull the plug on Kragthorp after one year, either, so he's off poll list as well.

When looking at the list, this is what I think:

Houston Nutt - underachieving squad, but I think he'll be there for at least a couple more years. If nothing changes; then comes the yank.

Dennis Franchione - Gets my vote for gone first.

Bill Callahan - Worthless dirt bag of a coach. I feel bad for my in-laws that gotta deal with this turd. As long as the present AD is at the helm, Callahan's job is safe.

Bill Doba - don't know enough about this guy or his situation.

Greg Robinson - I think the Louisville win saved his arse.

Dave Wannstedt - Did anyone really think he'd be worth a crap? Pittsburgh was hoping against hope that they were getting Pete Carroll version 2.o; unfortunately, Wannstedt sucks any time he's the HC. Wannstedt is just a coordinator, and nothing more.

Mark Snyder - don't know enough about this cat either.

True. I suppose I should have chosen a better response. :)

They sell $11 season tickets. He doesn't have much to work with. However, I do feel Wansy is one of those guys who is just meant to be an assistant.

The problem with vbookie-ing this is that any one of those guys can be fired at any minute. The vbookie may not know ahead of time to close the betting. Betting can be done, basically, after one of those guys is fired.

However, I'd bet on Franchione. Or however you spell it. You don't piss off the elite boosters. I still believe that's why they fired Earle Bruce.

I voted for Franchione.

When he got censured for the "paid-email" thing, which was a violation of his contract, that was greasing the skids. Plus, the rest of their schedule is difficult, and he should lose at least 3 more games, which will make it an easy decision.

Franchione seems like the logical choice to me too -- after all, it's a foregone conclusion that he's getting fired. The question though, is will he get fired first?

A&M should make a bowl game. Marshall, Wazzu, Pitt, and Syracuse won't. The prospect is 50/50 for Nebraska too, as they've still got Colorado, A&M, Texas, Kansas, and Kansas St to play, combined records of 24-9.

Will Franchione or Callahan be given the opportunity to hang around until late December to coach their teams' bowl games?
