A MAN OF BETRAYED JUSTICE

I wish to run about 20 feet of hdmi cable. This looked like a good deal, but my searches for 'connecting' or 'linking' are yielding the wrong results.

Is there any degradation when linking multiple cables?

Do I need male to female cables to accomplish this?

The above link is male to hdmi. What's the difference between those two plugs?

I would not recommend going over 15' without an extender, as digital signal degradation can occur with larger runs, which will be reflected as 'snow' in the picture quality of the set.

This will be used for a computer monitor. Does the same apply for that?

When you say an extender, do you mean simply an adapter, or something to boost the signal inbetween?

By the way, to answer the other question in your first post, the cables you linked are HDMI 1.3b male to HDMI 1.3b male, as in male sided at both ends, which is a "standard" HDMI cable for connecting a source to an output. That's just to differentiate from a different connection/cable type, such as HDMI male to DVI male.

As for HDMI standards, don't overpay. HDMI 1.0-1.2 will support up to 1080p (UXGA). You don't need to pay for the 1.3/b standard unless you're going higher res than that, 1440/1600p (WQXGA, such as with 30"+ LCD monitors running 2560x1600).

ah, I skimmed the title. many of those titles were listed as male to female, without the HDMI in the middle  :smash:

The extender looks a bit expensive. If the recommended limit is 15 feet, it seems worth the gamble to just try the 20 ft hdmi cable, since this is merely going to be used as a secondary monitor location (so I can work on my office PC from the living room).

In that case then you definitely want to pursue a high-grade cable that is no longer than absolutely necessary. If you've measured 20' buy one that's exactly 20'.
