Hang on Sloopy
I have got to go with the 70''s, but the 60's and 80's had some great music as well.

I'll go with the one I grew up with - the 60's. Beatles, Stones, Dylan, Who, Kinks, Beach Boys, The Dead, Airplane, Hendrix, the Doors et al. Just a total motherload of music still listenable to this day.
Too much of the early 70's was overly elaborate progressive rock, though there was still solid stuff from Zeppelin and others to keep the wolf howling.
Too much of the 80's was disco.
The 90's were plagued by not enough exposure for the good music that was out there, and too much exposure for the lousy music (thanks MTV).
If I had to pick the best overall ten-year period it would be from 64 - 73.
Have to say the 40's were the best decade for music. Love that big band sound.
DJ, you are showing your crack smoking idiocy by even mentioning the 80's, with a very few exceptions they sucked.
unless they were on an ill-fated boat in chicago, then the 90's would be dropped.Dave Matthews Band or some shit.
Not to be a stickler, but disco was more the latter part of the 70's, disco was declared "dead" at a baseball game in the early 80's when they burned several disco records on the field.
If I had to pick the best overall ten-year period it would be from 64 - 73.
