  • I enjoy stories about kids' accomplishments... let's hear yours...

Yesterday, my 7th grader was part of the defensive play of the year for our Babe Ruth baseball team... men on 2nd & 3rd... one out.. league stud (9th grade) hammers a shot to left center.. my guy is in left (for only second time in his life)... I'm silently screaming "hold him to a double... don't let him get to third".. my little guy is still on his horses... nabs the line drive shot at the fence (340 sign)... perfect throw to shortstop... who reals around and guns the runner at the plate.. double play... inning over.. that glow in the east was ME...

Cool. My little guy is brand new (5 weeks) and although I'm enjoying him as he is now, I'm looking forward to the day when I can teach him how to throw and catch, and then watch him doing something that he enjoys.

Awesome story NJ. Can't wait to hopefully have stories like that to share down the road. My dad was my baseball coach growing up and there's nothing like a dad coaching or watching his son play baseball.

It just feels right you know.

Out of the blue Sunday my seven year old daughter said to me that her mom had taught my two year old daughter to say "damnit". Then she paused for the perfect interval and said, "Okay, it was me." I nearly wrecked the car laughing. Her delivery was perfect.

They are both handling my separation from their mom and divorce proceedings astonishingly well. It's a great thing to like and admire your kids as well as love them.

I don't have any kids of My own yet but I do have a nephew who is in the first grade and a neice that is two. Some of the things that they do are hilarious, and My nephew is just a natural born athlete I think. He plays coach pitch baseball this year, so far he is 12 for 13 this year, he made his first out this past weekend. He can already throw a line drive from Third to First, although the first baseman has hands of stone and can't catch anything. And when he gets to play catcher he just waits for the chance to whip of his face mask and get a kid out at home of nail the runner at first.

I may be able to post somethig here everyday!

My youngest is a gym rat and excels in gymnastics. They had show off day last week and she cleaned up in the ribbons and trophy category. She is one of those kids that if you show her how to do something once, she usually masters it quickly. She is strong and has one muscular little body. My wife always jokes how she wishes her rear end was a high and tight as the youngest.

My oldest in the more cerebral one. Today we will go to school for awards ceremony. She was in band, drama, accelerated math and reading and won citizenship award once. All the women in the neighborhood want her to baby sit as she is well behaved and the kids like her.

Both took tennis lessons and are pretty good swimmers.

Besides all the bragging I am always telling my wife I want to be a kid again. The youngest one spent several hours playing with cars humming a christmas song the other day. The older one as she learns and figures things out asks questions that are very difficult to answer without some thought. I think she enjoys making her mom squirm.

Nice story NJ, although I do not have any kids as of yet, I do look forward to the days where I can watch my kids play ball.

It looks like the athletic gene in your family skipped a generation or it came from his mother's side :wink2:

I'll have to think of some for my two boys, aged 2 and 4. I'm just happy they have not been arrested, yet.

My brother is 10 years younger than me so I've always thought of his accomplishments like I would my own child. Over the years he had several accomplishments similar to NJ's child. He used to be one of the better athletes in his school, but now all he does is sit on his ass and play Halo 2. He quit every sport besides baseball, but got mostly F's so he can't play anyway. I guess he would rather be a complete failure rather than try to live up to the family legacy.

One of my twins (now 11) was pitching and the other on third ( they rarely play these positions as it is the twins first year in the majors) well my son had a 1-2 count on the best and fastest player in the league. The batter hit a hot grounder to my other son at third who one handed it and whipped it to first where he had the kid by 2 steps. Son pitching went 1-2-3 game over.....

My son at third is not real co-ordinated (very skinny, lanky) which made it all that much more special! :)

Thanks IAMBRUTUS! This one almost put me in tears but one of the twins told me that he wanted to spend one on one time with the just him and I on his birthday going shopping, dinner whatever ! We left Sat. eve at 7 and got home at 10:30 and just shopped had a blizzard and had fun. He must have told me the time together was just what he wanted and that he loved me 5 times that night and that he wanted the birthday day out to become a tradition.....

Next day did the same with my other twin. Gotta luv'em!

I am not always a asshole ND fan!
