The Buckeyes split a pair of mid-week games with ACC power Georgia Tech.
Game 1
COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State baseball team dropped a 9-2 decision to Georgia Tech Tuesday evening at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium. With the loss, the Buckeyes fall to 32-15 while the Yellow Jackets improve to 30-18.
Georgia Tech took the early lead in the top of the first against Ohio State starter Jake Post. Brandon Thomas and Daniel Palka were each hit by a pitch with one down before Zane Evans drove in Thomas with a double off the wall in center. Sam Dove followed with a sacrifice fly to left to plate Palka for the 2-0 Yellow Jacket lead after a half inning of play.
The Yellow Jackets threatened again in the top of the third when Thomas tripled down the right-field line and Palka was hit by a pitch and stole second to put runners on second and third with one out. However, Post bounced back to strike out Evans and get Dove to ground out to second to end the threat and keep it a 2-0 game.
Ohio State then put pressure on Georgia Tech starter Jonathan King in the bottom of the third. Greg Solomon doubled to left with one down and moved to third on a wild pitch but King got Brad Hallberg to hit a comebacker to the mound and Joe Ciamacco followed with a lineout to left to end the inning.
