• The Buckeyes split a pair of mid-week games with ACC power Georgia Tech.

Game 1

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State baseball team dropped a 9-2 decision to Georgia Tech Tuesday evening at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium. With the loss, the Buckeyes fall to 32-15 while the Yellow Jackets improve to 30-18.
Georgia Tech took the early lead in the top of the first against Ohio State starter Jake Post. Brandon Thomas and Daniel Palka were each hit by a pitch with one down before Zane Evans drove in Thomas with a double off the wall in center. Sam Dove followed with a sacrifice fly to left to plate Palka for the 2-0 Yellow Jacket lead after a half inning of play.
The Yellow Jackets threatened again in the top of the third when Thomas tripled down the right-field line and Palka was hit by a pitch and stole second to put runners on second and third with one out. However, Post bounced back to strike out Evans and get Dove to ground out to second to end the threat and keep it a 2-0 game.
Ohio State then put pressure on Georgia Tech starter Jonathan King in the bottom of the third. Greg Solomon doubled to left with one down and moved to third on a wild pitch but King got Brad Hallberg to hit a comebacker to the mound and Joe Ciamacco followed with a lineout to left to end the inning.

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Behind timely hitting and a strong outing out of Ryan Riga in his first-career start, the Ohio State baseball team defeated Georgia Tech, 3-2, Wednesday evening at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium. With the win, the Buckeyes improve to 33-15 while the Yellow Jackets fall to 30-19.
"It's a big win for us," Ohio State head coach Greg Beals said. "To invite this kind of opponent to Ohio State and represent well means a lot. We still have a lot of work to do. We have a big weekend ahead of us and the guys in the locker room are road warriors right now. They get a well-deserved day off tomorrow to recharge the batteries and get ready for one of the best teams in the country starting Friday."
Georgia Tech took the lead with a run off Riga in the top of the third. A double to left-center by Mott Hyde led off the inning and a bunt single by Thomas Smith put runners at the corners before Kyle Wren drove in Hyde with a fielder's choice to give the Yellow Jackets a 1-0 lead.
