With a brand new back seven, I might add. Also, credit the guys up front who are putting on the pressure. Pressure creates not only sacks, but interceptions as well. Have to love the takeaways this year.

I agree that it's the DL. We got loads of pressure last year, but it was from blitzing linebackers. Obviously, this leaves fewer guys in pass coverage. With the pressure our front 4 are putting on QBs, the LB's can stay in pass coverage. Think about it this way, 6 of our interceptions are from linebackers. Last year guys would have been getting sacks, not interceptions.

The only reason we're #2 is we have played one more game than Western Michigan... we have one more takeaway (13-12) and the same number of turnovers (4).

I thought the fun stat of the week was that Temple leads the nation in time of possession. They actually do lead in that category; apparently they let the other teams score so quickly they dominate TOP.

Actually, its even more amazing. We had at least THREE "missed
opportunities" against Iowa.

1. The phantom PI pass hit Donald Washington in the facemask;

2. Ja'Mario Oneal (sp?) had one but couldn't control it after making an
acrobatic one-handed rebound attempt; and

3. Freeman just missed one on the Hawkeyes first scoring drive.

For all the reasons already stated - Dline getting pressure; LBs and DBs
showing showing maturity beyond their ages, etc. - is giving the Silver Bullets
MANY MORE opportunites AND they are capitalizing on a high percentage as
well.

Of course we have been very good, and lucky, not turning the ball over ourselves. Teddy's fumble should have been a turnover, no two ways about it. "Luck is when preparation meets opportunity." Champions need some luck along the way and right now we're definitely making our own luck.

The Dline is playing awesome this year; I especially like how Gholston has come on. One thing that hasn't been mentioned is how Lil' Animal has a knack of being able to read the Qback and feel where the receiver is and then get to the ball. I think opponents are going to see this and start throwing in front of him or to the sidelines.

You forgot about Brandon Mitchell's two near INTs. The one on a slant that he couldn't hold onto (the INT he did come up with was on the same playcall) and the one he caught but was ruled out of bounds (barely).
