LSU has won 32 straight night home games.

And now for some 50-year-old history.

The last time two top-5 teams played at LSU on a Saturday night was Oct. 31, 1959, when Billy Cannon had a great 89-yard punt return for the game's only TD: #1 LSU 7, #3 Ole Miss 3. That play was the clincher for him winning the Heisman that year.

At the end of that season, Syracuse was #1, Ole Miss was #2 and LSU was #1. LSU lost at Tennesse 14-13. Because the polls were before the bowl games back then, the MNC was awarded before Ole Miss won a rematch with LSU in the Sugar Bowl, 21-0.

Should be a great game. The 2007 game was in the top three that I have ever witnessed. Except for the score, it was as great a college football experience as I have seen. Love the Tiger band, the Golden Girls, the tailgating, the drunk fans that don't know that we own them in their own house, and the deafening sound of the staduim in full drunk roar.

Everybody should go to a big game there before they die, as they should take in the Swamp, the Shoe, and (me at least) West Point as special venues.

can't explain it either.
everything is different for night games.

during the day, campus is active, but pretty subdued. during games, the crowd is somewhat into it, but only a shell of what it should be.


but for night (especially the big) games....
campus is alive. great food, music, drinks everywhere. there is an electricity in the air that you can feel before you even get on campus.
and when the sun goes down, all hell breaks loose.
it gets loud. it gets rowdy. and it really doesn't let up.

best way to describe it was something i read on a blog.
sometime after the sun sets, Tiger Stadium transforms into Death Valley.

why? i have no idea, but it happens.

Pat Dooley was on 790 The Zone in Atlanta today around lunchtime. They were talking about different scenarios for Tebow..playing, not playing, not starting but playing. One of the radio guys said that wouldn't Meyer open himself up to criticism if he did not start him but played him because we were behind, etc. He then said maybe Meyer did not care about the press.

Dooley jumped in and said here is how he explains Meyer and his relationship with the press.

"For Spurrier, individual writers were either for you or against you and that was the way he treated you.

For Zook, everyone was against him.

For Meyer, you are either for him or against him and he doesn't care either way."
