This will be my first trip to Purdue for our game against them in November.Anyone know a decent hotel or city close to Lafayette? We're only looking at staying over Friday night and most hotels have a 2 night minimum and jacked up rates.

Purdue isn't bad for a day trip if you're coming from the western half of Ohio. I went to the game there two years ago and drove up and back the day-of quite easily. I doubt it would be worthwhile to stay in Lafayette the night before - if you must have a hotel I would look at Indianapolis or some other area on the way in and drive in the rest of the way the next morning.

It's not like you'll be missing any tailgating or anything if you drive in that day. Most of their fans don't show up until the third quarter when they realize the game might be winnable for them. Hopefully it's different this year and the Buckeyes smash them like they should and they don't even bother showing up late.

This. I day trip that from Chicago. Not worth the stay.

Only time I went to WL was for the '02 Holy Buckeye coming from Dayton...anticipated on tailgating for 4 hours before the game based on our departure. Instead, we spent those 4 hours sitting in traffic waiting to even find a spot to park remotely close to the stadium. We got in mid-way through the first quarter and it was an absolute debacle getting in and out of there. Not sure if they have improved this situation but I would NEVER go back the day of the game unless I was positive it was improved.

They have improved it by becoming terrible at football and having less of their own fans care enough to try getting to the game on time.
