Feed Back: Crimes.. if it wasn't a law.. would you still break it?

CCI

Metal Rules
Say there were no laws and you could do anything.. would you steal ect...?

Does laws make you be an honest person or are you inherently good? Is that possible to have a dark side where you want to commit some form of a crime?

I'd be lying if I said I hadn't day dreamed of living in the old wild west and being an outlaw. If chaos were to happen, I am pretty sure I would be out there causing it, grabbing shit and throwing it threw a window.

CCI...what did you do, pull an all-nighter?

Nice thread. I love the old west. I think I would fit in nice there....wiskey, women, gambling and no law. As far as stealing, most criminals have a code of ethics, there are dos and donts. Robbing banks and the wealthy is accepted, b/c they can replace it. But, I would have to say for the most part it is hard to say if we break the laws, b/c we have never known any different.

This is a great topic to explore.

Laws are for other people.

I absolutely believe that and always have.

My behavior is primarily determined by my own ethics - which in most cases correlate to the law. Beyond that I obey the law because of the potential legal consequence of my being caught disobeying it.

Anybody who does othewise is pretty foolish.

in the book of john....after jesus has healed a former cripple...and meets up with him at a later date...

john 5:14...Later Jesus found him at the temple and said to him, "See, you are well again. Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you."

mans laws are nothing..... and mans punishments are nothing compared to his....

Although 'traditional' Christianity is not at all where I am coming from I have to follow Alan's post with one of my favorite quotes from William Blake:

"Jesus was all virtue, and acted from impulse, not from rules."

I wouldn't murder, steal, rape, or hurt anyone, however most anything else is game. Speed limits are the biggest law I have a problem obeying, I also would probably give weed a try, and I would probably date girls that are as young as 16 (I'm over 18, but only a couple years, so I don't see what the big deal is). I think that I would treat people how I would want to be treated, regardless of laws or repercussions.

Indeed, Jesus did not come to fulfill the law, but to change the law. Legalism is one of the biggest problems with religion. We see its effects alot nowadays with Islam, but it's prevalent in Christianity, Judasim, and most other religions.
Bottom line....Don't let "religion" get in your way of a personal relationship with God.
