Fatal Contact: Bird Flu in America

DEBuckeye

It ain't easy, bein' cheesy.
Tonight, ABC is running this movie (Fatal Contact: Bird Flu in America) which is about a bird flu pandemic in the US.

I think this is irresponsible. All this can do is fuel the panic and media hype surrounding the bird flu issue. I'll vbet you that following this movie there will be a spike in the purchase of "stock up" items like water, canned foods and face masks.

Any other thoughts, reactions, etc...?

My first reaction was "what took the networks so long to roll out a half-assed alarmist movie like this".

But seriously, I stop short of calling it irresponsible because every newscast on any channel every night uses the same sort of alarmist tone to attract viewers. Quite frankly, if it does cause a spike in stock-up items, it may actually be doing a service since so many of us are woefully unprepared in the case of any major emergency. Particularly those of us who would tune in to watch this garbage.

I sincerely doubt that this TV movie will do much of anything. Anyone stupid enough to actually tune in to this crap will already be watching the dumbest piece of garbage on TV..."American Idol".

The bird flu has already hit a Florida trailer park:

I'm tempted to run a 30 second ad about an hour into the movie indicating that bird flu can be caught through the TV by watching a movie that shows bird flu and that only my new pharmaceutical product "ornithdiction" can assure that one won't catch it. I'll even advise people to consult their doctorbs and ask if ornithdiction is right for them.
