It's a shame Turkey didn't make it. I watched their match against Croatia while I was in Greece and it was just an amazing ending - even better to watch it in a bar with other people who actually give a damn about futbol.

Now if you could only find people who actually give a damn about you.

I think Spain breaks its 44 year drought in major tournaments and wins this one. The German defense hasn't been that great but they've managed to get by in 3-2 type games. Spain has been the strongest team since the event began, but there's something to be said for having done it before, as some members of the German team can claim.

Should be a great match.

I don't know exactly how to call this match. In the beginning of the Turkey match, Germany just looked lax, they were scored on and they picked it up soon after. They left the door open enough for Turkey to stick their toe in, but Germany slammed it on them when Lahm finished in the nintieth. Spain also looked perplexed against Russia in the first half, and then Russia couldn't find understand what hit them in the second as Spain rattled off three points.

Now,

If Germany's back four and midfield play to their potential on the defensive end, they may be able to contain the Spanish attack enough to keep the score low. The German strikers will need to be flawless on the counter attack chances as I feel that will be the best chance for Germany to score as I look for Spain to attack relentlessly and try to run the Germans down. This is what they did against Italy, partially, if they play the ball to the wings through the midfield they have the speed to beat the Germans, but the height advantage goes to the German back four on any aerial attack. If Germany does not play slow through the midfield and has Schwensteiger playing attacking wing, they can really make things happen, Klose and Podolski work well with Schwensteiger. If Germany really wants to win, they need a stupendous performance from Micahel Ballack who hasn't shown much this tourney so far, he must play stiff mid and I think he'll play a more defensive position but he needs to get in on the attack and use his height. He could really change the game if he can get up and score. He needs to score. Puyol will be waiting for all of them, and Casillas has not let to many balls pass his line so far. Spain has looked very solid and is really the team to beat. This will be an exciting game because of the contrasting styles these teams play, Germany with slower more defensive football, and Spain with quick attack minded play. The ultimate challenge will be who wins at midfield as this will determine who prevails. I have a feeling a sub may make a huge impact on this game be it Guiza or maybe Kurnyi with eaither a late goal or assist. Either way this is a must see match, Germany has the experience in this setting, and Spain has a stacked team all the way around.

I've put my money on Germany mainly because of the odds.
This game is on my birthday to so I plan on having a good time no matter who wins, we WILL see great football and thats all I'm looking forward to.

Best of luck to both squads.
