EDU PAES 620.04: Coaching Football

R0CK3TM4NN: "Anyone take this class? Its at 7:30 in the morning, and its full with a waitlist of 15 people. Someone I knew took it last autumn quarter and said it was amazing."

Wow. That's like the only class I could EVER shake off the hang-over and go to at 7:30. I'm surprised the wait list is only 15 people ..

How's the wait list for 'Sports for the Spectator' nowadays? In my day ('93 - '98), the wait list was 3 quarters to 2 years long. Its worth like 3 credits too.

BTW, thanks for posting this. I haven't seen the words, 'EDU PAES' for eight years. Brings back some nice memories ...

the class is pretty cool if you can stand the early mornings... i took it this past fall... tressel is just one of those people who commands total respect of whoever he's talking to, even if it is a bunch of hungover college kids at 7:30 a.m.

its neat to see coach tressel up close... he knows everyone's name and high school by the 3rd or 4th week... and he'll crack on kids that come in late or don't know if their high school won their last game. he looked older and older as the season went on, then after scUM week, he came in looking 20 years younger...

i heard when coop was coaching, he'd barely ever show up... tressel is there every morning at least taking roll. a lot of the time the assistant coaches come in lecture about the various positions... we heard from tucker, fickell, hazell, heacock, etc... pretty neat stuff, although its pretty basic football knowledge. the assignments are pretty cool.

its at the WHAC, which is in the middle of nowhere, but i think you're allowed to park there... at least we did.

if you're on the waitlist, just show up. everyone that did for our class he wrote into the class. there's tons of open seats.

Yeah, it's a great class. You could tell him where you went to high school and he'd tell you everything you'd ever need to know about that school. Simply amazing... especially the non-Ohio schools. Every OSU student should try to take this class before they graduate.

osugrad21: "Man what a great class....wrote my short paper on Hulk Hogan's impact on sports marketing"

I never took the class, unfortunately. I had a couple of random credits in my Freshman & Sophomore years like art class, Astronomy, & Basketball (along with my business classes), so it wasn't worth the wait for me.

How bout a paper on the Iron Shiek's influence on Athletics in the Middle East?
