Looks like this would be a great event to attend and is affordable by all. I had not heard anything about this, so I thought I'd give it a shout out.

Tonight, we present three films from the vaults of NFL Films in tribute to former Buckeye Ed Sabol who has contributed so much to the game loved by so many.

On August 6, NFL Films founder and Ohio State University alum Ed Sabol will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton. NFL Films effectively began in 1962 with the Packers-Giants NFL championship game and has grown so exponentially that the sounds and images the company has accumulated serve as the sport?s history over the past 50 years. Kicking the program off is one of the most influential sports films ever made, They Call It Pro Football (1966). Also screening are Anatomy of a Championship (1964), which covers the Cleveland Browns victory over Baltimore in the 1964 NFL Championship, and NFL ?74: Championship Chase (1974), which features highlights from that season and includes footage of the great Steelers, Raiders, Vikings, and Dolphins teams of the era. (program 104 mins., video)

Join us after the films for a panel discussion with Eddie George (Tennessee Titans) and Jim Lachey (Washington Redskins), both former Buckeye players who enjoyed sterling professional careers!

For OSU Alumni Join the OSU Alumni Association for a reception from 6 to 7 PM in the Wexner Center Caf?. Snacks, a cash bar, a chance to mingle with fellow alumni, and a visit from Eddie George and Jim Lachey are the perfect kick-off to the evening?s films. Find out how to register here.

Special thanks to Colleen Smith-Grubb and Lisa Heckman, of NFL Films, and to Shelly Poe, from Ohio State's Athletic Department.

Ed Sabol is the pioneer of slow motion sports clips with dramatic, upbeat music narrated by "The Football Guy." If he doesn't come around, football is crap for another 30 years until someone figures it out. This guy's idea makes people feel like they're IN the game.

Here's an example....

I mean, come on. You could put NFL Films footage to anything and make it look pretty cool. Point in case:

You gotta admit, when you see it, you're like, WTF.....

Maybe buchtel should clarify whether he was saying "all the cool people" 1) go to Ohio State or 2) know Ed Sabol went to Ohio State. I read it as the former, but obvious some of the other cool posters here went with the latter. :)

The only name I knew wrt NFL Films was John Facenda (RIP). I had no idea Ed Sabol existed; thus cementing my status as the most uncool member of BP.

Yes sir, I meant it as the former. But if knowing Ed Sabol went to Ohio State makes one feel cool, then who am I to judge? :tongue2:
