DT Johnathan "Big Hank" Hankins (Seattle Seahawks)

I wouldn't say he's 100% gone but it definitely seems like he will leave given the circumstances. But honestly you don't know the bonds he might have with fellow underclass men. You don't know how much fun he is having in the dorms. You don't know how much he loves playing in the shoe. I could just go on and on. There have been plenty of circumstances where people coming back and it not being all about the money. Lets stop making assumptions what is going on in this kids head. No matter what the choice is I bet you it's going to be difficult to make either way. I'm not going to complain either way because its his decision to make.

"Hey this dude should defiantly go pro he will be set for life!!!"

said player goes broke two years later and out of the league...

Or he invests wisely and pays you $6.50 an hour to wash his car weekly.

Seriously this is a fucking stupid discussion.

What do you think would happen if you gave this hypothetical player of yours $400k?

I'd bet he'd go broke faster. I'm not sure what any of that has to do with being in or out of the league though. He isn't going to be healthier by taking less money. If anything, he's going to be less healthy because he'd have another year of d-line football at the very least.

I don't see what logic your post has. Are you saying you have the opposing view of "Hey this dude should definitely not go pro he won't be set for life!" That is lunacy. Take the money. If he comes back, he will be celebrated, obviously, and we will all be happy to have him.

I'm saying he should enjoy his life for right now and if he thinks that he will enjoy it more in the NFL he should go. But what I'm also saying is that I bet there are a lot of players that make 400k that are in better positions than the millionaires. We can't just say invest your money wisely to these guys because obviously that's easier said than done for them. If he invests wisely making 400k a year or a few million a year he can be set either way. But there are no guarantees for either of them.

Mike Doss.

Who was never going to be a top 16 pick.

As far as the stay or go argument it's really kind of pointless for anyone to make because we don't know what Hankins values. We only know what we would do in the same situation.

I'd say it's probably most likely he values $20+MM more than another year of college life but only he knows that for sure.

I'd bet there are also a lot of millionaire football players that are in better shape than the ones making $400k. Neither of us can back this up. We can both just "bet" on it.

All I know is that I'd enjoy life a lot more if I had $22 million compared to $400k. I'd also have money to fall back on if my career ended because of injury or ineptitude. Vernon Gholston is probably happy he left early. There are examples both ways.

1 more year in college isn't going to make the difference between being an idiot with your money or not

It's much easier to make 22 million work for you then 400k. If someone making 400k is better off then someone who made millions its because the person making millions was an idiot with his money. This logic doesn't work the same person having either 22 mil or 400k

I should have said that logic would dictate that you don't come back for that reason. It happened to work out for Doss but that is a rather large leap of faith to be taking.

There have also been players who have had their entire knee taken out and still make money after college..... not saying either way just stating. Let the big man make his own decision and support it either way. Bet as long as hank has some good grub he'll be happy

There is also something to be said for staying a kid as long as you can. Pro football is a job and so is college football for that matter to a lot of people. If your dream is to play pro football and you have a chance, go. If your dream was to play college football and get a degree, you have more to think about.

Life is a one time thing, do it happy.

If he stays one more here will he be a guarantee Top-3 Pick? Possibly number #1 for the 2013 Draft Class?

It all depends on how he does next year and who else is in the draft next year. His stock could rise or fall. Look at Matt Barkley, he would've been a top 5 pick this past year. Instead, he came back to school, and his stock went way way down. I heard some people say Barkley could be taken in the 2nd round this year. The worst thing could be him coming back and getting hurt
