Seeing last year's example of Drew spiking the football in frustration, and in this year's game of his obvious frustration with himself and his receivers, is one thing.

But this quote: "I gave them two touchdowns," Tate said. "You take two of them away, it's a pretty close ball game."

What a lame comment! Shows what a poor excuse of a so-called leader he is supposed to be. How about giving some credit to the opposing team? I'd be embarrassed to be his coach or his parents!

I think you're reading too much into that comment, I actually read it just the opposite. As a coach i'd be glad to see my leader step up and take a lot of the blame from his yong wide receivers. Besides it's not like he is saying that they would have won the game had he 'not game them two'

Well, if we're playing that game...

Sorry Mr. Tate, you don't get to take those two touchdowns away. The refs breathed life into one of their TD drives and took away a first and goal from the Buckeyes. Maybe if Iowa had spent more money on paying off the refs and less on corn liquor and yellow shirts they could've taken those two touchdowns away like Drew Tate wishes.

Have fun at the Alamo Bowl, suckas!

But instead of saying: "You take two of them away, it's a pretty close ball game." He could have just given credit to the opposing team, win or lose. It's called class and it starts with the coach. It's very evident to see that in Tressel and Troy Smith!

Drew Tate and Troy Smith are reflections of their respective coaches....

Hmm. It's a good way of looking at things. I hadn't paid that much attention, had always considered Ferentz and Tress similar in a lot of ways. Both very professional, both talent maximizers, etc.

I'm not sure Tate fits into my idea of Kirk--and what is messing with my head is that I don't know exactly where that disconnect lies. I know KF gets fired up, but I'd always seen a purpose behind it. Tate, to my eyes, just lacks control. He gets after his linemen when he takes a hit--but he seems to be casting blame. Tressel (and Troy) would get after them, too, but they'd do so as a means of encouragement. I still like to think Ferentz would fall into this category as well.

He's a competitor, but I'm not a fan of him by any means.

Lots of people are competitors - they just manage it differently.

One of my favorite references to Kellen Winslow Sr is from one of his former teammates. Kellen is famous for being helped off the field after the SD OT loss. He had given so much he couldn't even walk.

Well, this teammate (sorry, can't recall the name) said that Kellen didn't give anything more than anyone else. He just put on a better show.
