DL Juan Garnier (official thread)

Bourbon, Bow Ties and Baseball Hats
BP Recruiting Team
Official Bio

Here's a name you may not have heard even though he is on the official roster. He is listed as having played previously at Auburn and is currently a sophmore according to OSU's official site. A poster on BN's free board, osualum82, who supposedly has ties to the program, has said that Juan could be a solid player down the road. I haven't seen any other info right now, but this is a name I thought should be out there...

Here is his bio from Rivals...

he was recognized as a Scholar-Athlete at the banquet back in May of this year...don't know if that helps deduce how long he has been on the team.

given the lack of offers to DTs in the last two years I thought it was important to note that we might have a little more depth than we realized.

I used to work with this kid. He used to work the door where I bartend at. He said he played o-line at auburn. He looks like he put on some weight since he joined the team. He was probably around 290lbs when I knew him.
He is a pretty good athlete for his size. He was always doing some footwork drills while he was working. It was actually kind of funny to watch, but who's going to crack jokes on someone that big

Thanks to the NCAA, we can't help you help the Garnier family

I want to give you Yamileth Garnier's address.

I've got it right here.

I want to publish it, and ask you to send her money. One tap of the keyboard could bring Yamileth and her son thousands of dollars. They would deserve it. They are two of the bravest souls I have met in covering college football for 20 years.

Yamileth is living in Boston near the poverty level, behind on the loans she has taken out trying to send her son Juan to school.

If you read my walk-on of the year story on Juan Garnier, then you know they deserve your help.

But I can't publish her address. Well, I can, but eventually it would become an NCAA violation. Hopefully enough people would be moved to contribute to the family. But undoubtedly some of those compassionate folks would be Ohio State fans, or fans of whatever school Juan might transfer to.

Cont'd ...

The NCAA already has shown its compassion. In April, it allowed Juan an almost unprecedented two extra years of eligibility.

It would great to see him earn a schollie for his next two years here. Reading his official bio, I was surprised to see he weighed 430 pounds at Auburn.

What were the odds of Dennis Dodd writing "Ohio State" and "NCAA violation" in the same paragraph without pissing off most of us on this board? :tongue2:
