I have misplaced my pants.
(If this gets moved to another forum, I won't be too unhappy about that.)
I've been thinking that Ohio has a lot of Division I-A football teams. An unusually large number of them. Then I went through and tried to think of what states might have more: maybe California, Texas, or Florida?
Ohio has 8 Division I-A football teams: Ohio State, Ohio, Miami, Cincinnati, Bowling Green, Toledo, Akron, and Kent State.
I only count 7 teams for California: USC, UCLA, Cal, Stanford, San Jose State, Fresno State, and San Diego State.
I also count 7 for Florida: Miami, Florida, Florida State, South Florida, Central Florida, Florida International, and Florida Atlantic.
I count the following 7 for Texas: Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, UTEP, Houston, TCU, and North Texas. But there are four teams that I BELIEVE are in Texas: Baylor, Rice, SMU, and Temple. Does anyone know if I'm right on these four? If so, that makes 11 for Texas.
So then I counted all the other states, to figure out how many Div-IA teams each had. There are 7 other teams that I don't know for sure where they are. I got Auburn, Clemson, and Troy all in Alabama. Air Force in Colorado. East Carolina in North Carolina. And Vandy and Wake Forest in Virginia. Anyone know how many I got right?
Anyway, I just think it's weird (and pretty flippin' cool) that Ohio has the second-most Div-IA teams, despite its relatively small size.
I hope my boss stays on vacation forever so I don't have to do any more work ever again.
