Dispatch: OSU / Friend or Foe

I do not get to read the Dispatch anymore but are they criticle of Ohio State Football? I noticed during the MSU game there was thing on the TV screen with saying of Ted Ginn and his sophmore slump. Was it being
criticle of Ginns performance. As an Ohio State fan that would be bothering to read of something like that. Seems like some thier writers are not happy with what is happening with Ohio State football. Just wonder what Ted Ginn thought of the article.

The Dispatch sports page under Ray Stein (*cough* Other Paper) has tried to be much more, um, "objective" when it comes to Buckeye sports, which often results in them being somewhat cynical when lofty goals are not realized. Personally I think the hometown paper has a right to be homer central, but since the Dispatch raided Cleveland for their current management they are trying to be more like the national biggies.

Of course, guys like Rob Oller and the toad Bob Hunter only care about making themselves seem clever--though they come off as geniuses compared to yesterday's letters-to-the-editor.

I've given up reading that garbage. The editor must go through and pick out the most asinine, inflammatory drivel each week, and then print those with some type of smart-ass comeback that makes both the writer and the editor look like whiny bitches.

One guy yesterday literally wrote: "Jim Tressel did not lead us to the national championship in 2002." I figured it was the start of a satirical piece on bad Buckeye fans, but he was being completely serious. :!

sorry to be Thump here, but it's "critical"

If you're referring to my "cynical", then no, it's not: I meant what I said. Ohio guys like Tim May, Rob Oller and even Ken Gordon are fans deep-down and want to cover the team that becomes the champ. Like many young Romantics, when their idealistic visions are not realized they splash into the pool of cynicism (faultfinding captious criticism, according to Webster). Plus, I think these guys take it a little personally that Tressel doesn't open up like a dental patient when they're questioning him.

I've been reading the Dispatch sports page every day for 25 years, and this is IMO the most negative bunch in that span.

You mean the Dispatch sports page is now run by former Cleveland Plain Dealer management??? OH MY GOD! I feel for you all that have to read that garbage. I stopped reading the Plain Dealer a few years ago due to how negative it was sports wise. Heck you should have read the paper during the Indians collapse near the end basically saying "Only in Cleveland".

You have to realize that in Cleveland they always expected things to go wrong and when they did they were first in line to report it and beat the dead horse. Hopefully their bad karma doesn't infiltrate Columbus and Ohio State sports.
