I won a math debate
What are peoples thoughts on this?

I broke down, got 2 LinkSys Ethernet over power adapters and get 50 Megs across the power line, which is fine since I only have 3 megs over the internet.

They have a lot of on demand channels, but I feel a lot of programs are missed, it just feels like it's lacking.

I wanted to see what other people thought.

Same feeling.

I got another Airport Express so I could hook up my HR21 to the net. It's mildly disappointing compared to some cable systems, especially the fact you have to wait for something to be downloaded before viewing and the fact that it's much slower than need be.

For example, I have a 24mbit Internet connection and it still takes 30 minutes to download a 15 minute episode of something. DTV needs to use some better CDNs to host their stuff (and I just happen to work for one .

The amount of content isn't there yet either but the service is new and I'd expect it to get better overtime. No HBO On-Demand yet! But Showtime is on there and has Dexter in HD. So if that spreads over, and there's HD content from most networks, it'll be pretty cool. I have hope!

Not quite, I can download my aquateen hunger force, start download, wait a couple minutes and then start watching, it won't catch up. Takes a while on High Def stuff though, sounds like maybe your wireless connect isn't giving the throughput.

I recently bought a house in a neighborhood that has no cable service so DirecTV was a logical choice. I have used the On Demand service a few times. It seems to download pretty quickly. It goes right onto the DVR. You can start watching before the download is complete. But in my experience, by the time I get my wife in the room, the download is done. It actually seems to take less than a minute, even for an hour of HD content. It has not really been noticeable.

The amount of content seems reasonable. I had Time Warner previously. It was a little more difficult to find the content there.

I too am moving at the end of July and the house we bought is currently using DirectTV, so I thought I'd stick with it rather than being plunger raped by Charter Communications for one of their bundles.

The problem of internet remains - DirectTV is partnered with AT&T in my area which means DSL. Are you DirectTV users going to the cable company to get internet to pair with your DirectTV?
