ESPN - Ex-Niners coach, father of current one, Nolan dies - NFL

Dick Nolan, the former coach of the San Francisco 49ers and the father of current coach Mike Nolan, died Sunday, the 49ers said. He was 75.

I am not old enough to remember Dick Nolan as a coach, but the Niners are my favorite team and I know what he means to the organization. He will be missed. RIP, Mr. Nolan. :(

Who cares? He died of old age. Last I checked that happens to all of us. I'm not going to pretend that I care. Just like I didn't give a damn about dumbass Bo dying last year...just that it might give LLLLoyd some extra motivation to win...but it didn't.

My dad grew up watching the 49ers when Nolan was their coach.

His team won a couple of NFC West crowns and made three straight playoff appearances.

Alas, every time, they lost to "America's Team" in the Staubach/Landry era.

My dad knew who Nolan was and told me all about him.

My condolences to Mike and the rest of the Nolan family.

I admire Mike Nolan, a former student at Bellarmine Prep, for his determination to coach in memory of his father. My condolences to the Nolan family, from a fellow Bell.
