He certainly was a tremendous loss. As to your very gracious comment about it not being the only reason, the question is: would Teddy have made up for our DEs being better than your o-line that night? The problem, IMO, was not so much missing Teddy's deep threat, as it was Troy not having any time to find a receiver and make a throw. O-line was the biggest issue. Put it differently. Your question can also be restated like this: was tOSU's #2 receiver so much worse than Teddy that it imploded the buckeye offense having him out?Coqui;1988946; said:I know it wasn't the only reason, but you have to wonder, what would have happened in 2006 had he not gotten injured on the opening kickoff?
Anyway, someone was smiling on the Gators that night. Everything seemed to click right (or wrong - depending), from UF making every first down by a hair, to your DC's insistence on having DBs stay five yards off Percy out of the Gator backfield (also known in Gator land as "the odd decision to give us sure first downs", but I digress). Ted was great, and his loss had to be sorely missed, but I don't think the end result would have been different in the "W" or "L" department. OTOH, missing Harvin in 2008's BCSCG and we lose to Okie. I believe that. But that was a more evenly matched game.
The score might have been less one-sided, I'll give you that Coqui. And with 41 points, he would have seen more kick off duty.
And there should have been a call on that hold of Reggie F-in Nelson, nullifying that first TD.*
* no, he would not have caught him, but the rules do not say that it's not a hold if you can't catch him.
