Deswampifying Teddy's thread

I know it wasn't the only reason, but you have to wonder, what would have happened in 2006 had he not gotten injured on the opening kickoff?
He certainly was a tremendous loss. As to your very gracious comment about it not being the only reason, the question is: would Teddy have made up for our DEs being better than your o-line that night? The problem, IMO, was not so much missing Teddy's deep threat, as it was Troy not having any time to find a receiver and make a throw. O-line was the biggest issue. Put it differently. Your question can also be restated like this: was tOSU's #2 receiver so much worse than Teddy that it imploded the buckeye offense having him out?

Anyway, someone was smiling on the Gators that night. Everything seemed to click right (or wrong - depending), from UF making every first down by a hair, to your DC's insistence on having DBs stay five yards off Percy out of the Gator backfield (also known in Gator land as "the odd decision to give us sure first downs", but I digress). Ted was great, and his loss had to be sorely missed, but I don't think the end result would have been different in the "W" or "L" department. OTOH, missing Harvin in 2008's BCSCG and we lose to Okie. I believe that. But that was a more evenly matched game.

The score might have been less one-sided, I'll give you that Coqui. And with 41 points, he would have seen more kick off duty. :sneaky:

And there should have been a call on that hold of Reggie F-in Nelson, nullifying that first TD.* :pissed:

* no, he would not have caught him, but the rules do not say that it's not a hold if you can't catch him.

Short version: Florida beat the fuck out of OSU in every facet. Teddy might have made it slightly less embarrassing, but he wasn't lining up on the defensive side of the ball - which was the biggest embarrassment.

That's the worst I've ever seen an OSU team look. One player wasn't going to make a difference.

The best way to think about that game is to not think about it at all. Fuck that night.

The real shame is that you did not get to play the skunk bears again. Not only would you have beaten them and won another crystal trophy, I would have had no reason to be hanging out reading the threads here and laughing my ass off at you sick sum bitches, and so never would have shown up in 2007....

I don't know. I don't even know who Tom Tebone is.

I think he's related to this guy:

That's actually what I mean. All those kickoffs he could of returned a few more to the house or at least in great field position.

Add to that his deadly end around (one of the few people who could actually make it work regulalry)

This doesn't excuse our defense or the O-line though.

Bullshit. Had aliens not abducted our team before the game, you would have had no chance.

edit: Gatorubet. i didn't ding you, but i was sorely tempted. if you can't see how Ginn nullified the pass rush all season long, and how devastating the loss of him was to the Bucks' game plan, then you aren't as football savvy as i previously thought.

It's been my belief that you needed at least "two potatoes and" before you can throw with any consistency. It is also my considered belief that our DEs fucked up your potatoes that night. Could be wrong.
