Rob Harley provides us with a description of his reaction and his parent’s reaction to Rob being rewarded a scholarship for his final season as an Ohio State Buckeye.

By Steve Patterson

You earned time on the field the last two years on special teams, how special were those games for you?
'To earn playing time is always a special feeling because you feel a sense of accomplishment and belonging. You're no longer just on scout team or playing in practice, you're now getting to put all that practice and preparation to work. The last two years were great because my hard work in practice paid off when I was able to earn spots on special teams during those seasons. There is nothing else like being able to play on Saturday afternoons in front of capacity crowds in the Big Ten, that is an accomplishment that I will never forget.'
<O:p
Jim Tressel announced that you have earned a scholarship for your final year at Ohio State did you anticipate this announcement?
'I did not anticipate the announcement at all. Over the past years Coach Tressel has awarded some seniors and major contributors with scholarships, but that was only when he saw fit to award them and it was never a definite thing. I was just preparing for this season like I always have, and I was fortunate enough to be awarded a scholarship to which I thank Coach Tressel very much.'
<O:p
Have you had a chance to tell your parents and what was their reaction?
'My parents were thrilled with the announcement because they know how much work I have put into this program over the past 4 years, not to mention the strain that the tuition has put on their check book. They were extremely happy for me, and have always been very supportive with everything that I have experienced at OSU. It was they who allowed me to pursue this dream of playing at Ohio State by letting me walk on, so all the credit really goes to them for working so hard to allow me the opportunity to experience what it's like to be a Buckeye.'
<O:p
Was this something you have worked towards throughout your career?
'Obviously being a walk-on, earning a scholarship is on your mind every year as you prepare for each season. However playing time has always been the most important thing to me throughout my career. I've been fortunate enough to earn playing time over the past years and now to earn a scholarship is just 'icing on the cake.' My career here has been a memorable one, and I wouldn't change anything about my decision to walk on here at OSU. Hopefully I can add one more accomplishment to the trophy case my last year, that being another National Championship in the Rose Bowl.'

Rob's the kind of guy you love to root for, the kind of guy whose every action embodies our ideals for this university and team. He's not in the limelight, but he goes out there every day and works his ass off, and when his number is called, he steps out onto the field and does his job. Every time I saw Rob make a play, I'd jump up and cheer (and piss off my wife :) ) just because of who he is, and how he carries himself.

There are so many outstanding young men on this team, it's hard to single out any one of them, but if you must... well, Rob would be a good example of just how to succeed in football, or in life.

Senior special teams player Rob Harley tore his ACL during the game, the same injury that ended his season last year. The great-great-nephew of Chic Harley, Ohio State's first three-time All-American, ended his Ohio State career on crutches on the sideline. "But we got a win," he said.

Rob is on a local C-bus (Channel 6) pre-game show....he was also acting as a sideline reporter for the B10 network.

We were pleasantly surprised to see him on the sidelines for the BTN yesterday. Just out of college and he already has a good gig going...

Why Does Rob Harley feel necessary to degrade our team?

"Pryor isn't the guy for the team.?" Are you serious

"Toledo is brutal, this win shows nothing."

I feel like he is trying to be the next herbie, it's really making me mad.

He is mr hot shot all of a sudden
