THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
It is by doctors' orders that Ohio State baseball coach Bob Todd will open the season today sitting in the dugout rather than coaching third base. Although he is weeks ahead of schedule recovering from double knee replacement surgery last fall, he must remain off his feet as much as possible. If he doesn't listen to doctors, his screaming legs will tell him to take a seat.
That's why Todd is humbled that fifth-year senior Dan DeLucia of Watterson will start for the Buckeyes against Arkansas State in the Service Academies Spring Classic at 2 p.m. today in Millington, Tenn.
Ten months ago, DeLucia had Tommy John surgery, which entailed the replacement of a ligament in his left elbow. He started only three games last season.
