Dallas/Denver thanksgiving game

scarletandgrey

Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult!
Anybody else watching this game? It's a pretty good game but that's not what this is about. Anyone else notice how serious those cops look that are proteceting the Iron trophies. I've been cracking up everytime I see them. I mean come on it's not like they're protecting the Stamley cup or something.

good discussion :tongue2:

Does plummer wear retarded sleeves on his jersey to prevent hampering his throwing motion?

Or just to enhance the weirdness of his look?

Also in a different format(for both college and pros), they could make it like the NBA. Have a ___ minute clock. And which ever team leads at the end wins. No sudden death. And if its still tied at the end of the first overtime, then go to a second overtime.

No offence Teddy, I think that's just a terrible idea...but not much worse than the current NFL rules

JC and I had a talk about this last weekend...and even though I think it may be too confusing for the NFL to employ, I think this does sort of make sense.

You kickoff just like you would to start NFL overtime now...but both teams have to have a chance to score. Once both teams have had the ball...then whoever has the lead, or takes the lead first wins.

So...Team A gets the ball, scores a TD...then they kick off to team B...who needs a TD to keep the game going, if they don't get it team A wins. If they do get it...they kick off to team B...and then the next team to score any points wins.

If Team A were to go to 4th down, they could punt, or go for it or whatever, and if they punted, then if team B took the ball and scored, then they'd win. Pretty much, once both teams have had the ball it turns into how the NFL is now...but at least both teams had a chance.

This idea makes more sense, but I don't like the "Beat the clock" idea. It takes time to score points in football, and with the college system, you eliminate the huge advantage of getting the ball first. With this scenario, you eliminate part of that advantage, but it still lies there after you make it through part one of the system. I think the best way to go is imitate the college way IMO.

I think what they should do in the NFL for OT is just play another full quarter. That way whoever scores the most points in that quarter wins.

i dont like that idea at all, because all it really does is

1. make the game atleast another 45 min. - 1 hour longer.

2. have an even greater risk of injury, with everyone being considerably fatigued.

3. could be unfair because one team may have more possessions than the other.

4. and from a broadcasting standpoint it automatically delays a stations whole lineup of programs (atleast 1 hour delay). Could you imagine having a game you want to see come on at 4 o clock, but you miss the whole first quarter because the niners and texans have decided they wanna duke it out into overtime?

But mainly fatigue would become so overwhelming that players would begin to start dropping left and right.

I say they just do the college overtime, exactly as it is, except for maybe back another 10-15 yards (especially with NFL-kicker's legs).
