College football rankings: Ohio State still no. 1 in Coaches Poll after improved showing vs Western Michigan

The Buckeyes held steady atop the Coaches Poll for Week 5.
The Ohio State Buckeyes remained atop the Amway Coaches Poll for Week 5 after appearing to be somewhat closer to what they showed the nation they were capable of at the end of last year in a 38-12 victory over Western Michigan. The Buckeyes received 61 of 64 first place votes in the poll.
Michigan State moved up to No. 2, while TCU dropped one spot at No. 3 after a close call in a shootout against Texas Tech. Oregon dropped to No. 25 after taking a huge home loss to Utah, who moved up to No. 12. UCLA comes in at No. 10 on the poll, after an impressive win against Arizona.
Auburn fell out of the poll after yet another loss, this time at the hands of Mississippi State, who appeared in the poll this week at No. 22. Mizzou also dropped out, after losing to the Kentucky Wildcats on the road. Georgia Tech dropped out of the poll after a loss against Duke, along with Arizona, who took a big loss to UCLA. Newcomers to the poll include 4-0 Cal at No. 24. West Virginia also cracked the Top 25, coming in at No. 21 after a 45-6 win over Maryland, and Florida comes in at No. 23 after a close win over the Tennessee Volunteers.
