  • I could've sworn we had a thread about this, but search as I may I can't find one, so here goes. Anyone have DVD collections of "classic" TV shows? For purposes of this thread (and due to my age), "classic" is defined as pre-1980. I have the Season 1 set of the following shows:

    Hogan's Heroes
    Rat Patrol
    Gilligan's Island
    Combat!
    Lost In Space

I've only watched a few episodes from Gilligan's Island, Combat!, and Lost In Space, but have watched the entire 5-DVD set of Hogan's Heroes, and am almost done watching the Rat Patrol set (just got it last week). Rat Patrol rocks!

Almost bought Sanford and Son a few weeks back...will probably break down and buy it next time I see it. I'd like to see Wild Wild West come out on DVD.

Nope, nothing that old (whaddaya want, I'm 21). The only TV I have on DVD is Homicide: Life on the Streets (Seasons 1-2). The rather high costs of the season sets make buying them prohibitive for me at this point.

My mom's a big Twilight Zone fan, so I watch some of those discs whenever I'm home over a break. The original series is still the best, but the short-lived run hosted by Forest Whitaker and his Lazy Eye don't deserve to get crapped on like they do, IMO.

I don't own any, but we get them from the library all the time. Some of the ones I really enjoy are:

    Sanford and Son
    SCTV
Curb your Enthusiasm - not exactly old but still a fav

My kids love the old kids shows

    Land of the Lost
    Scooby Doo
    HR Puff n stuff

The one show I really want has not been released on DVD and sadly I don't know if it ever will due to all of the music licensing issues is WKRP in Cincinnati. One of my all time favorite shows.

Les: No parachutes yet. Can't be skydivers... I can't tell just yet what they are, but - Oh my God, Johnny, they're turkeys!! Johnny, can you get this? Oh, they're plunging to the earth right in front of our eyes! One just went through the windshield of a parked car! Oh, the humanity! The turkeys are hitting the ground like sacks of wet cement! Not since the Hindenberg tragedy has there been anything like this!

I don't know if any of these are classics, but Star Trek (TNG & DS9), La Femme Nikita, Dark Angel, Sliders, Seaquest DSV, and Pretender. I'm downloading MacGyver and Quantum Leap now, but I doubt I'll burn them except for the video files since I can fit a whole season on 1 or 2 disks. It looks like bit torrent is going to save me from having to rent or buy any new shows like Lost.

I would love if they would put Mission Impossible on DVD
