Chocolate Or Beer? Miller Combines Two Favorites

POSTED: 3:15 pm EDT October 12, 2006

MILWAUKEE -- Chocolate or beer? Now, lovers of brew and sweets won't have to make the choice.

Miller Brewing is launching a new holiday beer that's sure to appeal to chocolate lovers. The company said Frederick Miller Classic Chocolate Lager is brewed with six different malts.

It goes on sale this month through December in a number of Midwestern markets including Wisconsin and the cities of Chicago, Minneapolis, Cleveland and Indianapolis.

The brewing company said the beer will be sold in four packs of 12-ounce bottles and will be marketed for holiday gift giving. It'll cost about $6 for the four-pack, frosting not included.

Actually, a lot of "dark" beers have a somewhat "chocolaty" flavor to them! :tongue2:
Sure - that's great in a porter or a stout. Not sure about chocolate lager, though... I'll have to give it a try.

Incidentally, some of the best ice cream I've ever had was at the Great Lakes Brewing Company, made from their Edmund Fitzgerald Porter. The beer has a chocolate/coffee flavor, and they add giant chunks of chocolate to the ice cream... mmmmmmm...

I have had the Chocolate Stout at the elevator as well, pretty tasty, but you could not drink more than 1.

I think Sam Adams used to make a Chocolate Stout too. As far as a lager I would hope that is just the reporter being clueless about types of beer. But we are talking about the Miller Brewing Company after all.

The Brooklyn Black is good, but I prefer the Young's Double Chocolate Stout. YUMMY!! Great with a cheesecake or other non-chocolate flavored dessert.

As for the lager, just yuck!

Beer and cheesecake?
That sounds like an.......explosive combination!
