CB Marshon Lattimore (2017 NFL Def ROY, 3x Pro Bowl, Washington Commanders)

I don't see any scenario where we do not take Lattimore. Aside from being the #1 player from Ohio and from Glenville to boot, his film is off the charts on the offensive side of the ball. I understand he is a great CB prospect, but need and who we get in this class could dictate where he ends up. In my eyes, he is the only DB-type prospect high on our board who is a serious candidate to play offense (Peppers maybe, but not likely).

Marshon is the #2 ranked WR according to Scout.

Completely agree. A lot of people seem to have him locked at CB now (not necessarily on BP), but I don't recall reading that the staff is recruiting him strictly for defense. If it's just his preference then I could easily see him on offense, as he has said he will play wherever he is needed. Conley said he prefers WR but OSU will likely start him at CB. I'm hoping for Lattimore on offense.

From what I've heard, Marshon has the talent to be an elite HS prospect at both WR and CB. Position aside, you take him on your team no matter what and the position he plays will work itself out one way or another.

Or he could develop and become the latest 2-way player at Ohio State (Z.Boren, C.Gamble)... that is unless Roby beats him to it...

Exactly, he is the only 5 star talent I see in Ohio this year...you take him and figure it out later. However, I will be perfectly clear that I like him on offense. I know he has shown some impressive stuff at corner but he is just too electric with the ball in his hands and I think we are going to go above and beyond our quota for lockdown corners (Burrows, Apple, Conley, Webb...maybe Peppers and others). Much like Ginn coming out of high school, he could be a lockdown corner but I think it will be impossible to not see the highlight reel he throws up from the receiver position...different players but same idea. He will be a nightmare for opposing defenses. Have fun trying to cover Lattimore with Marshall, Wilson, and Clark on the field with him.

Agree 100%.

Defense wins championships.

If he can play corner at an elite level and all indications are that he can, I say let him play where he wants.

I like where we are at corner but we still lose 3 starters next year and also wanna be DB U again tbh.

Either way, this kid is ridiculously talented.

Those would be unofficial visits. No need to be so condescending either, IMO.

And that matters because? What osubucks13 commented was "I would rather he do it prior to the winter"...he did not specifying what it was he rather have Marshon do, visit or make his decision. And seeing as Marshon is from Ohio, I fail to see what winter has to do with his recruiting...

Didn't mean to cause a stir. All I was saying was that, since Marshon said he'd decide after taking officials, I would rather him do it before then because that's a long time away. I used the word winter because normally recruits take their officials in the late fall or winter.

Yes, and they cannot take officials before their SR year of high school starts, so that means it isn't allowed before that Fall. And since most coaches like the kid to come in Friday night and stay thru Sunday ( officials can be 48 hours ) it can be limiting because many play their h.s. games Friday night or Sat afternoon. Thus why a lot of officials are after their h.s. FB season is done - before a bowl or just after one.

As an aside, I would like to see an early signing period for FB established. Let those that know before their SR year get it out of the way. Say late August after the summer camps but before practices start. It would take some of the "heat" off the Dec-Feb signing day mad rush! IMO the early period helps the basketball season be less complicated by a lot of recruiting simultaneously of SRs.

Not to get into a big back and forth, but the quoted article says, "Would like to visit Tennessee, Indiana, West Virginia, Illinois & Ohio State this Spring. Will make his decision after all his officials."

Now, those first five visits (in the spring) would be unofficials. His officials couldn't start until the first day of his senior year (read: fall). Most kids - if they take all five officials - don't do so until after their season is over (read: late fall, into winter). Seems pretty obvious to me that, "I would rather he do it prior to the winter" is regarding a commitment, and not a visit. Especially considering Marshon has already visited the campus.

Back to Marshon, my thoughts are the same as RB07 - kid is too good with the ball in his hands to put him on defense.
