“We don’t have to visit Ohio State this summer because they are bringing their whole staff down here,” Cavazos’ father CJ said. “They will be down here June 8 at the Texas Southern Camp. It will be coach (Urban) Meyer, coach (Greg) Schiano, the whole staff. Lejond is very excited about working out in front of coach Meyer and coach Schiano.”
“Lejond really likes Ohio State,” CJ said “He talks to coach Meyer weekly or every other week.”

And even though Lejond won’t visit Ohio State this summer, another visit with the Buckeyes is already in the works.

“We will be up for a game this season for sure,” CJ said.

THE HURRY UP: FIVE-STAR CORNERBACK ANTHONY COOK REMAINS CONFLICTED WHILE MENTOR DEFENSIVE END NOAH POTTER LANDS COVETED OFFER FROM OHIO STATE

REAP WHAT YOU SOW

Now unless the Buckeyes are recruiting a legacy, it's rare to say a commitment is decades in the making. But that may very well be the case for IMG Academy safety Lejond Cavazos, who visited campus for the second time on Saturday.

But more on that in a second.

“They are my top school, and it's mostly because my dad and Urban have known each other for 20-plus years,” Cavazos said, explaining Meyer — then the wide receivers coach at Notre Dame — recruited players at Dallas' famed Carter High while his father, C.J., coached there. “Therefore, I trust my career in his hands. As well as coach [Kerry] Coombs. He has a great background and produces great corners. And I will probably be playing corner there as well.”

The elder Cavazos later added, “Urban was a young, white nerd recruiting black kids. We have been friends since then. [It's] crazy that he now wants my son.”

Coach Schiano stopped by yesterday & Taver Johnson will be in for their spring game on the 17th. Coach Meyer has known his father for several years & is doing some of the recruiting himself. Will be back at tOSU in July for Friday Night Lights.

Buckeyes are firmly at the top here, would be hard to imagine him not ending up in Columbus at this point.
