California 45, Arizona 27 (final)

Arizona is bad. Really, really, freakin' bad.

Opinion by Greg Hansen: Wildcats play a howler against Lobos | www.azstarnet.com

Arizona was so bad it made the downtown Rio Nuevo project come off as a slick operation.

It was so bad that Mike Stoops unaccountably called a timeout moments before halftime - followed by some unsportsmanlike behavior that resulted in football's equivalent of a basketball technical foul - giving New Mexico time to gather itself and score again.

"In my three-plus years here, this is far and away our most undisciplined team,'' he said in a frank self-analysis in which he called himself "foolish.''

How bad was it? With 13 minutes remaining, the large video scoreboard displayed its weekly "Hit of the Game.'' It was a highlight from the little leaguers who scrimmaged at halftime.

I feel like Vegas is begging me to take the favorite on every line this week. Ok, Louisville, Florida, Cal, WVU, USC, LSU, Oregon, and OSU. They are all playing, with the exception of a decent South Carolina, horrendous teams. Of course, the underdog will end up covering 75% of those games, and I'll thank my lucky stars I only bet vcash.

If college football would have a system where the AP. UP. NCAA, ESPN, SportingNews and all the rest of sports media were not permitted to put out a poll, voting for the Top 25 teams, would it make a difference in ranking of conferences and OOC games. How do you determing the strongest confernce even before the season starts. I just don't think its a fair to other schools. Who really are the experts here.

Instead of the AP and ESPN, you'd have Joe Website and ABC and CFN. No thanks.
