Buckeyes are outhitting the Tigers 8-2. But another 2 errors have been committed by the Bucks. Gotta limit those. They haven't hurt today......yet.

Edit: Must be a final. Buckeyes win 4-0. Sam Mauder led the way going 2-3 with a HR and a stolen base.

The win improved Ohio State?s record to 2-0 in the season-opening Service Academies Spring Classic. Memphis falls to 0-2.​

With a man on first, Meade chased down a wild pickoff attempt and fired a seed to third baseman [URL="https://admin.xosn.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=87801&SPID=10418&DB_OEM_ID=17300&ATCLID=1058723"]Brian DeLucia[/URL] who tagged out Memphis? leadoff hitter.​
• DeLucia continued his torrid hitting with a one-out single in the second, making him 5-for-5 at the plate this season. Unfortunately DeLucia ended up straining a hamstring on the play and he left the game for a pinch runner: true freshman [URL="https://admin.xosn.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=87801&SPID=10418&DB_OEM_ID=17300&ATCLID=1378102"]Tyler Engle[/URL].​

• Cincinnati?s Archbishop Moeller High School has produced two of the true freshmen who have played this year: Wimmers and catcher [URL="https://admin.xosn.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=87801&SPID=10418&DB_OEM_ID=17300&ATCLID=1378100"]Dan Burkhart[/URL], an opening game starter.​
• The game was the first of 12 this season for Ohio State against teams that competed in the 2007 NCAA tournament. Memphis was part of the Nashville Regional. The Tigers lost to Michigan, 10-7, and Austin Peay, 18-7.​
• Approximately 75 fans made the trek from Columbus to Millington to watch the games. For those that made Friday?s first game, the drive time was as much as 13 hours due to the icy conditions in Ohio.​
• The shutout was the first for Ohio State in two years. The last shutout win: May 25, 2006, a 9-0 win over Northwestern in a Big Ten tournament game at Ann Arbor.​
• Ohio State?s last 2-0 start was six years ago: 2002.​

Ohio State pitchers J.B. Shuck and Alex Wimmers combined to allow three hits and strike out 14 in a 1-0 win over Memphis in the Service Academies Spring Classic yesterday in Millington, Tenn.
Shuck pitched six innings, allowing two hits with a career-high nine strikeouts. Wimmers pitched the final three innings.
OSU (2-0) scored its run in the first when Cory Kovanda singled and scored on a single by Ryan Dew.
