The Kevin McGuff led Ohio State Buckeyes keep building on a pretty good group and may have picked up an important piece to the 2016 puzzle.

She will come in at a time when needed the most as senior Ameryst Alston will have moved on and the star studded class of Chelsea Mitchell, Asia Doss and Alexa Hart will become Juniors.

The 5 foot 10, Kiara Lewis is ranked 22nd in the class and is a five star recruit from Whitney Young High School in Chicago. The same school that produced high flyer Sam Thompson.

After recovering from knee surgery from her sophomore season, Lewis led Whitney Young to the Illinois 3-4A title and was the MVP of the state title game — scoring 20 points.

She will step into a role vacated by Alston that will require her to utilize her ball handling and scoring skills that she has exhibited at the high school level.

A tough defender as well, Lewis will fit the mold that head coach Kevin McGuff and his staff is developing.

Lewis is the only commitment so far for the 2016 class but the Buckeyes are hot on the trail for the services of a few more five star players.

Tory McCoy out of St. Thomas Moore in Illinois, Tyasha Harris of Heritage Christian in Indiana, Jensen Caretti from River high school in Ohio , and Jacaira Allen from Dillard high school in Florida are all Ohio State targets.
