Ohio State To Host PrimeTime Picnic

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio State football fans will have a special opportunity to meet the 2010 Buckeye team and be the first to see the new practice complex at the Harmon Family Football Park at a "PrimeTime Picnic" Wednesday evening, August 4 at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.

This one-of-a-kind event gives fans a chance to get up close and meet the Rose Bowl champions on the eve of training camp in a relaxed, casual atmosphere from 7-9 p.m.

All attendees will enjoy a picnic dinner provided by City Barbeque and special photo opportunities with the 2010 Buckeye coaches and players.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Les Wexner Football Complex Enhancement Fund and the Tressel Family Fund for Cancer Research at The James.

Scarlet packages ($1,000) for the event include two tickets; VIP parking; early entrance at 6 p.m. for a tour of the main display area at the WHAC; a replica helmet signed by Coach Tressel and the 2010 Buckeye seniors; and a football autographed by Tressel and the 2010 OSU juniors.

Gray packages ($250) will include two tickets; a football signed by Coach Tressel and the 2010 seniors; and a football autographed by Tressel and the 2010 juniors.

A limited number of Scarlet and Gray packages will be available. To order or for more information, contact Athletics Development at 614-292-9908.

Is the Harmon Family Football park essentially going to be new practice fields? Was over there last week for an event at the Longaberger Alumni House and it was a pile of dirt still, though they had a nice brick sign and a nice looking fence going up.

This is actually kind of tempting, I hope they keep it around for a few years until my kids are older, I'd definitely take one of them if they were a couple years older

I was there a few weeks ago as my son was attending a football camp. Outside the WHAC there are four football fields side-by-side all artificial field turf (although given the size I would have to assume less quality than the one put in at the 'Shoe). Two of the fields were complete and it looked like there was room for two more that were still in the dirt stage. And then in between the center two there was one of those large coaching towers that the coaches can go up and see down across all of the fields from.

So you get a football signed by Tress and the Junior class (Pryor) and then either a football or replica helmet signed by Tress and the Senior class (Heyward). Tressel is the one signature I dont have. He was at the camp a lot, but it didn't seem right to hound him for an autograph when he was there for the kids.

You also get to take pictures with all of the players (but no autographs). I imagine the line for Pryor will be quite long ...
