I've always said we should give Youngstown to Pennsylvania, Cincinnati to Kentucky, Steubenville to W. Virginia, and Toledo to Michigan. Cut off some of that deadwood.

Yeah that's a great plan. Consider Eastern Ohio (Steubenville, Martins Ferry, Bellaire, St. Clairsville, etc.) is Ohio State country. And yes Eastern Ohio is predominently Steelers also. That's the way it is. An hour or less from Pittsburgh, having all the Pittsburgh stations, and not having any major down periods in 35 years will make people Steelers fans generation to generation in Eastern Ohio.

If we did in fact cut those cities loose from Ohio two things would happen:

1. The jobless rates for Ohio would dramatically and quickly improve. As would many other economic factors that pull our state downward in national rankings.

2. We would encite a second civil war as most of those states would cry foul if they had to take on the burden of supporting the majority of the people in those cities and would fight to the death to make us keep those territories. :wink2:

Deep Breath. Exhale. Deep Breath. Exhale. Deep Breath. Exhale.

Ok- now that we have relaxed just a bit. These were obviously good natured jokes, that meant no harm. I certainly don't want people to get their panties in a bunch over anything I said.

Besides- Ohio is what it is today because of the hard work and sacrifices from people across the state- including those cities mentioned. I would not want to change our state in any way (except maybe Carribean-like weather, beaches, and rum maybe).

Ohio is great- warts and all.

Let's see. My dad went to Ursuline, is a Browns fan. One of my cousins is a Steelers fan, she went to Fitch. What is really cool is one of my dad's cousins and his family, who've retained their loyalty to the Browns even though they live in Pittsburgh.
