Bovada’s odds place Ohio State as the favorite in the Big Ten

With the college football season just about a month and a half away, the sports book has released their conference champion odds.
Big Ten championship odds via Bovada:
Ohio St 3/2
Wisconsin 14/5
Michigan 11/2
Penn State 6/1
MSU 10/1
Iowa 40/1
Nebraska 40/1
Northwestern 50/1
Purdue 80/1
Minnesota 90/1
Indiana 250/1
Maryland 250/1
Illinois 800/1
Rutgers 800/1

Not that this will be much of a surprise to anyone, but Ohio State is the favorite to win the Big Ten per odds realized today by Bovada. The Buckeyes open with 3/2 odds to win the Big Ten this year, while Wisconsin sits with 14/5 odds and Michigan has 11/2 odds.
The Buckeyes are also a heavy favorite to win the Big Ten East, with Bovada placing 21/20 odds on Ohio State. Michigan and Penn State both sit behind the Buckeyes with 7/2 odds to win the division. Michigan State was given 11/2 odds to win the division title before the odds are raised considerably, with Indiana and Maryland sitting at 100/1 and Rutgers at 300/1.
For as much of a favorite as Ohio State is in the Big Ten East, Wisconsin is an even heavier favorite in the Big Ten West, with the Badgers being given 4/9 odds to reach the Big Ten Championship Game. There should be healthy competition for second place in the Big Ten West though, with Iowa, Nebraska, Northwestern, Minnesota, and Purdue all being given between 10/1 odds to 14/1 odds.
If you are the ultimate gambler, you could roll the dice on Illinois or Rutgers to win the Big Ten at 800/1 odds. Or you could just light your money on fire, which would probably bring more you more enjoyment.

The most popular Buckeye on the Ohio State basketball team might just be one who rarely sees the floor. Former walk-on Joey Lane has been on the court for just 50 minutes and scored 21 points since coming to Columbus in 2015, but the energy and passion for the team and school is what resonates with fans.
This year will mark the third and final year that Lane is on scholarship at Ohio State, and while he toyed with the idea of moving on to another school as a graduate transfer, much like his good friend Andrew Dakich did when he came to Ohio State from Michigan as a graduate transfer. The success of Ohio State in Chris Holtmann’s first season as head coach erased any of the doubts Lane had about staying in Columbus, as he has a bit of unfinished business with the Buckeyes.
Lane decided to return to Ohio State to try and help the team win their first Big Ten title since the 2011-12 season, when they shared the regular season title with Michigan and Michigan State. While Lane might not see much time on the floor for the Buckeyes this year, there are no doubts that the leadership he will take on in practice and on the bench will be a huge part to any of Ohio State basketball’s success this season.

Ohio State wrestling added the fourth recruit to their 2019 recruiting class when Tyler Stein gave his verbal commitment to the Buckeyes. Stein joins Jordan and Jacob Decatur of Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy and Genoa’s Dylan D’Emilio in the 2019 recruiting class.
The 220-pound Stein finished his junior season at 46-3 and was Ohio’s Division II state champion at 220 lbs. Stein was recently ranked 11th in the country among high school wrestlers at 220 lbs by FloWrestling.
Next year, Stein will join Chase Singletary, who will try and fill the void this year left by Kyle Snyder, Gary Traub, and Kevin Snyder at heavyweight on Ohio State’s roster. Stein committed to Ohio State over Iowa State, West Virginia, American University, and the U.S. Naval Academy.
“I am really excited for Matt to join our coaching staff. His passion for this university, knowledge for the game and ability to communicate and relate to the players will be a great asset. Matt’s skill compliment me and this coaching staff.”
Ohio State baseball coach Greg Beals on new assistant coach Matt Angle
On Wednesday, Ohio State baseball coach Greg Beals announced the addition of Matt Angle to the Ohio State baseball coaching staff as an assistant coach. Angle is no stranger to the Ohio State program, as he played for the Buckeyes from 2005-07, and was a volunteer video coordinator the last four seasons.
Angle was a two-time All-Big Ten selection and was Ohio State’s team captain in 2007. During his time at Ohio State, Angle’s .351 batting average was the 14th best in school history, and his 60 stolen bases were third-most. With Angle as part of their team, Ohio State made NCAA Regional appearances in both 2005 and 2007.
Following his time at Ohio State, Angle was drafted in the seventh round by the Baltimore Orioles, and played nine seasons of professional baseball with the Orioles, Los Angeles Dodgers, Miami Marlins, and Oakland Athletics. Angle recorded 11 stolen bases in 31 games in the big leagues, and registered a home run and seven RBIs in 79 at-bats.
